New Season Summer Tournaments Starting

Well, King Tut is almost upon us. What tournaments are your teams doing this summer? Do you have plans for any out of state? Do you have recommendations for the board on tournaments to try?

King TUT is slim on 00 teams this year. Just 5, or 4 since the FCD team is an 01.

Tut helps you gel if you have a lot of moving parts or the first year select teams trying to find out where they are; however, there are multiple reasons that this tourney is low on priority list for this age...

First, getting all the paperwork organized is a total headache-uniforms, money, vacations, are all issues you hate to deal with.
For the 00s going through QT, Tut is an expensive "friendly" tournament in 1000 degree heat with injuries looming and QT a week away...which is MORE expensive and probably hotter-lol.
If it was two weeks before the QT...It would be a lot bigger with the established teams. You could play, heal and shore up, then play the LHQT. Most will run a scrimmage or two, not risk extra injury by playing 4 matches in 2-3 days, and gear up for the QT.
Many teams will allow kids to return from vacation and then play a tune up like Wiseman or Plano LD to get ready for the season. The 15 year old teams that do play may have a larger tourney looming or picked up several new players that they need to work in...

Spot on assessment of my DD's team...a lot of new players mostly from teams that folded. I saw the number of players and teams drop last season, but since this age group is past the high school threshold I should get use to it from here on out to graduation.

Well, assessment or not, I will be glad to see a game after such a long lull.

Agreed.

At these temperatures, the tournament becomes more about surviving, than playing good soccer. There is no way these kids can be hydrated for the second match of the day. Lastly, it's practically impossible to keep a cocktail chilled for any length of time.

Seriously, make your young lady hydrate tonight.
