My understanding is that everyone will be grandfathered except for the new teams entering competitive; so 2006, 2007, etc once they (USYS, NTSSA, etc) make their decision.

I hope this is the case, but I'd like to know where everyone is getting their information?

Most of this assumption is based on what classic league is doing for the boys. that private league can do that. issue becomes when any team steps outside of classic league.

state cup
tournaments
showcase tournaments

they will be forced to play up to the age division of their oldest player. so where is the majority of college scouting done... league play or tournaments?

ECNL is expected to adopt calendar year.

the older teams have the most to loose in all this at this point, with the academy squads just needing to prep for what is about to hit.

I keep seeing that everyone is hearing this and that but no one is telling from where they are getting their information. I have a feeling that the teams, clubs, leagues, and associations are all guessing how US Soccer is going to implement.

taken from Socal, who pulled it from North Carolina State president speaking...

Michigan has a press release on the Federation's mandatory changes

http://www.michiganyouthsoccer.org/A....aspx?did=4305

Also, on another forum the president of the North Carolina Youth Soccer Association offered these tidbits in two posts, which suggests everyone will just pull the bandaid quickly and implement the changes next year rather than wait two years:

"NCYSA will not be voting on anything. This is a Federation Mandate. All Federation Members will be required to go birth year. USSF Hoping it will be in place for 2016 but will be Mandatory in 2017. The USYS AGM was this past weekend and 91% of all state associations support making it mandatory for 2016. Hard to make it work if some do it and some do not.

I would expect the whole u13, u14, u15 etc structure to go away. Will only be designated by calendar year. Tryouts will still be in May. Fall Season and Spring Season will make up the year of play and State cup in the spring. There will not be a phase in process. All calendar years at one time. That's the latest. Always subject to change. As we learn more, we'll get the information out."

"Here's what I have. The U S Youth Soccer Board of Directors will meet late August for their scheduled BOD meeting. It is expected they will address the 91% support from the State Associations at the USYS AGM this past weekend for beginning in the 2016/2017 year. Assuming they were listening, this will roll out for the beginning/Fall of the 2016/2017 year. The intent will be to have all details completed by Thanksgiving 2015, allowing substantial time for the State Associations to digest and roll out for their members in time for the 2016/2017 year. As already stated in this forum, NCYSA, with its members, will have to evaluate the whole slot issue as well as other issues. There's no way to speculate at this time how that will be done. Need the details first. Can only speculate about how difficult it could be to iron out at the state level. It's certainly my hope that we will be able to put a plan together that will be as painless as possible. As more is shared with us, we will share with you."

Calendar year poll Empty Re: Calendar year poll

Post by InaB 31/07/15, 03:03 pm

I could definitely see some of the 00 and 01 teams benefitting from gaining players who have been playing up. I have often wondered how an 01 would benefit from playing on an 00 team once they hit U17. Do coaches look at them at all? I would be interested in hearing how that has worked for other age groups.

I expected this thing to reveal more bias. It appears most just want their DDs to stay with their friends.

Needs to be a larger sampling. Responses compared to actual users of this forum is a bit off...
