Solar 7-0 over Rush

Texans tie 1-1 vs Rush.....can't explain. Beat Lonestar 4-0 and quick trip to Houston ends in a tie. Heat, travel...??

All other scores make sense...to a degree. I would have expected larger score differentials from the top 3-4....however..it is the first week.

Thoughts?

Texans are a good team but surprised that they beat LS 4-0...very lucky to escape with a tie against Rush. Rush led for 60 mins and had several opportunities at the end to score again. Rush played well today the same can not be said of Saturday...though I thought Solar played well on the opening day a lot of the goals were soft and the Rush defense was in disarray to say the least. Only explanation is that Rush starters played 90% of the game today whereas there was a lot of rotation on Saturday / position experimentation. Not sure I am a fan of seeing that during the opening weekend of play but also a new DoC so he is still getting to know the girls. Saturday's score line also hurt a lot of girls on the team who have never suffered this type of result and were competitive in all conference games last year and went undefeated at the Phoenix showcase....so there was likely a bit of bounce back in terms of pride today!

The Texans vs Rush was a shocker of the week for the 01. After seeing the scores, I got to think Solar is in a class by themselves. I think we are going to have similar standings from last year in the 01 age group. Not sure what happened to Lonestar but I thought they would put up a better fight against the Texans. FCD vs AHFC was closer than the score indicated as AHFC led at half 1-0. Sting vs Feet went pretty much as expected, heard that feet could have made the game closer with some missed opportunities.

Early days but agree the Solar Red / now 01 ECNL team has been a team that has been a class above for several years even Going back to select days. Well coached, good organization and a core group of kids for some time. You don't beat Surf and get the number 1 ranking in the nation without having a quality team. That said the Rush defeat on Sat should never have been 7-0 ..but one team did not show up to play. I look forward to my DD getting another shot later in the season because it gives her a chance to play against the best..and that is the privilege of playing in the Texas conference.

I would love to hear some perspective on the Feet '02 ECNL vs Sting '02 ECNL. Conventional wisdom would have called that a shocker / upset correct? I don't know diddly (or very little) about the '02 age group so I have no hidden agenda just curious as to how / why the game played out with such a scoreline in an ECNL game. 3 goals at this level is a helluva a lot. Is Feet a brand new group of girls? Did Higg turnover some players and they now need time to gel?

Feet 02 ECNL girls continue working really hard getting ready for ECNL. I would say its 50/50 new players vs those who have been on the team . The Additions that were added helped where our team struggled at. Cant say nothing negative about the Higg team. They gave us a fight that's for sure. Was our players at the right place at the right time working the program, what Coach Don has been coaching them since D2 when he took over our team? Absolutely.. All the practice/surf cup/scrimmages the girls have been doing is paying off.  Sometimes you have to tear it down to rebuild it right. Plus that red head girl has a hellva shot.. hahaha sorry shameless shout out...All jokes aside I really do not have any real breakdown of to why we won. Just goes to show at any given day anything can happen on the pitch. Best of luck  and Health to All teams this season.

I watched this Feet '02 team scrimmage against a good Sting '00 team in August and wear them out. They certainly looked legit that day. It's a very long season but I didn't hear anyone on the Sting sideline discounting the loss at all. Good Side. Now they have to string them together.

scores mean everything and they mean nothing...

trying to decipher one game from another using scores is about as two dimensional as you can get.

I will say hanging 7 goals on Rush, even if they are rotating players through, is very impressive.

it's a long season....
