Which 00 D1 team avoids the playoffs?

Mathematically, 4 teams are fighting for one spot to avoid the playoffs...

Sting Royal 18 pts. (1 match v. FCD)
Sting Ferretti 18 pts. (1 match v. Mustangs)
Solar Gold 17 pts. (2 matches v. Solar Elite and Solar Hopkins)
Sting Garrett 17 pts. (1 match v. Andro)

Why they win...
Sting Royal-sit in the top spot already, play an opponent with the least to play for and won last meeting.
Sting Ferretti-play the weakest opponent (on paper), and beat them in DIGC a few weeks ago.
Solar Gold-get two bites of the apple, so even two draws could do it (depending on other results).
Sting Garrett-always give Andro fits-lots of bruises and hard tackles.

Why they don't...
Sting Royal-FCD is near the top of the standings for a reason...they are good, and I doubt FCD really wants to help them out much...should be a great game!
Sting Ferretti-Mustangs are hungrily trying to play themselves INTO the playoff, and depending on who is back from injury could be very dangerous...remember them sitting 2nd in D2 last year before they were decimated?
Solar Gold-2 games is nice...until you look at who they play...Solar Elite needs this game to win the league...and Solar Hopkins didn't accidentally back into 4th (and they could climb to 2nd).
Sting Garrett-has to pass the others, and Andro needs this game (and help) to win the league...plus I don't think they like each other...will be a true battle.

I'm wondering if any back door deals are made....SOLAR gold plays SOLAR elite and SOLAR Hopkins, if gold wins both they avoid playoffs.

Also for Club Sting, which of the three teams get the ECNL players to help them avoid play-offs?

Lol, I wouldn't count on any backdoor deals...Solar Gold hasn't gotten a lot of help historically. We have borrowed an 01 GK when we had an injury/card, and one player that is on Hopkins roster, but any others are typically from Solar Silver if we CPP...which as BOTN pointed out can't be done in the playoffs anyway. We will be out there with our normal crew minus the injuries for our last two, and hopefully that is enough.

Not sure if this is a general statement or directed specifically at Solar Gold, but SG has 0 dual rostered players. I personally would be thrilled to hear that there is a mandatory Canadian ECNL tournament the weekend of the 23-24th. I would rather that SG play teams with players that signed to that roster, train consistently with that roster, and at least know the first names of the girls on that roster...

I haven't scoured every LH and ECNL team and cross-checked the lists, but the teams that I know have dual rostered players WON'T be in playoffs...

2 most DR teams in LH are Solar Elite and Solar 00 (Hopkins).

Just to add to this line of discussion. Sting Ferretti does not have any dual rostered players and has not used the Club Player Pass this year either. We are playing with the same 21 girls we started the year out with.

Also which D2 teams get to join the tournament? Jumbled up top with 2 or 3 left to play in next week. Good luck with that given the weather forecast.

To be transparent here, we have used CPP with our girls from Silver on other occasions, but pulling up is truly for development with us. Also, we did use a CPP for one game that is on Hopkins roster that is an ECNL player...but I have mentioned that in the past.

I think that is going to be a crapshoot. The best team in D2 IMO (and I have said it from season start) is DT Red, but Fever, FCUSA (Sporting) are right there, and FCD Red and FCD East are able to beat anyone.

It will be tough for FCDE to climb enough to make it with 2 games left, but they could grab a 3 or a 4 and be in D2...they finish 4 or 5 and their game with FCD Red determines which spot.
DT Red and Fever play each other, so that could be the decider, though each of them have some sneaky tough games...the winner of that is definitely 1 or 2...the other will likely drop to 3.
FCUSA has (perhaps) a slightly easier schedule and could sneak into the top 2 (especially since Fever and DT Red play each other and it will either be 1 each or 3/0 points...they will be at least #3, but likely #1 or 2.

I think it could be DT Red, FCUSA, Fever, FCDE, FCD Red...but I wouldn't be shocked by any of my top 3 in any order, and FCD Red could beat FCDE for the #4.

Going to be interesting. I think DT Red may have the toughest road. Playing a Liverpool team (again since it got called in the 78th minute or so due to lightning) that can play with anyone on any day is a wildcard. Then, of course, tough matchups with Fever and a seemingly hot FCD East team. All in 6 days. Work cut out for them.

I think FCUSA does have the easier road.

There are going to be good teams left out of the chance to play for D1 and to stay in D2. But that is the way it is every year one way or another. That's why you play the games. Good luck!

Looks like rain wins. Many cancelled tonight. The new schedule has the playoffs on May 14th and 15th now...please double check me in this, but that is what I see.

That is what they are showing as of now 5/14-5/15. They are giving ample time to make up games

Ferretti won 2-0 over Mustangs. That's the only official score I know at his point but I did hear the same results as Sleestack through the grapevine.

Fever and DT Red in from D2. They square off Wednesday for bragging rights and seeding is all. Going to be a very tough play in round robin for sure.

Actually Ferretti is not in yet, If Brown won yesterday then there is a tie at 21 points for the last D1 spot. Since the H2H is a tie they would have to have a playoff tiebreaker game.

The Brown game was actually on Saturday, and I'm fairly certain it was a 1-1 draw with FCD Premier...but just going by what I heard. Not sure why the score hasn't been posted yet.

oh ok, i thought at first reading that was a prediction... my bad. If that is the case then yes completely agree Ferretti is in D1.

No worries...was thinking there might be some sort of confirmation on here, but this place seems somewhat dead since "the decision"!!  

How are teams in the playoffs impacted for teams staying as 00s vs. 99s. Any distinction for determining who is in the playoff tournament?

As far as I know standings are right. Congrats to ferretti for beating bussey and earning 6th.

D2 determined Wednesday and brackets should be set. Got 2+ weeks to heal as much as possible and get ready for tournament. There will be some great games there. DT red and fever will give the d1 teams more than they want.
