Post by SocDad 22/08/16, 10:53 am

# of teams per League:

LHGCL JDL (Lake Highlands):  10
LHGCL (Lake Highlands):  30
PPL (Plano Premier):  12
APL (Arlington Premier):  9
PTS (Prime Time):  25
Total teams:  86

Looks like the "powers at be" at PPL & APL are resting on their history too much and not enough promoting.......and they are seeing a DRAMATIC decrease in teams playing....or maybe there's just not as many '06 teams?

What ever the case is.....Congrats to PTS on pulling 2 full divisions for it only being their 2nd year of existence.

only thing to note is that there may be overlap between JDL and LHCGL. Some teams will play both. so the real total is probably not 10 and 30 for those two....

The issue at hand is AP.

The numbers of kids in the January -July range that have already walked away from the sport as they were being looked past for the bigger stronger kids is staggering.

ODP tryouts last night was more of the same.. no offense but the number of former 07s was staggering.

Yes, ODP at this age is sillines. We can put that to bed right now. if you want to start a bashing ODP thread go ahead, that wasnt the question being asked.

To me it was a sampling of the age group. There was representation from nearly every "top" team in the age group.. but the percentage of kids on the older side of the spectrum was greatly outnumbered by the younger...

No, i do not know all their birth dates, but gauging physical maturity, and what appeared to be mental maturity... it was telling..

Wonder if anyone else noticed the one kid that kept laying on the ground and literally rolling around like she was at daycare and throwing a tantrum.

We have found, over the years, this developmental approach speeds up learning to create the best all-around experience. The list below is an example of just a few players over the years that have benefited from this program:

What are you even getting at. They all wore the same orange shirt that was passed out.

Sorry, I guess I have been at this too long and know a lot of the older girls on sight, having had my kid train with them, play with them, or play against them over the last 6 years.

Like my boy Skeets said... we will all one day share a sideline... GULP! LOL

Seeing as how this thread has already been hijacked so no need to create a new one, does anyone know if 06's can tryout for ODP with the 05's?

Trying to figure ODP out, does anyone know about how many are selected for 06' and 05"s? Are there two different groups or one larger group? Saw a lot of girls out last night, just trying to understand the selection process.

First year of ODP they select a high number, forming like 4 teams worth of kids.

They place the girls into squads based on their evaluated ability by the ODP staff. Defined A, B,C, D teams, etc...

As the years pass the numbers of teams drop.

the 05s that made it last year are not required to try out again, which is why the 05 group looked like it did last night. As long as they were in good standing they get to continue with the program generally.

Yes because these coaches always get it right at 10-years old. Know a kid pretty well who was 3rd team at the start and Regional team a few years later.

ODP is different for every single kid, so blanket statements really are of no value.

Blanket statements are of no value and neither are the HSO's on this forum, but we must plow through the workday somehow...
