5 teams make it in.....thought it was 4.  From the "2017 QT Format updated" document:

"The 3 Bracket winners plus the next two teams with the highest point total earn a spot in Lake Highlands
Girls Classic League."

Looks like 5 teams make it now instead of the original 4 spots. http://assets.ngin.com/attachments/document/0129/0045/2017_QT_Format_updated.pdf

5 teams that make it: Warriors, FC Dallas, Fever plus Drifters and SP on Wildcards.

Good Luck to all

Some team must not have made or something of the like. So half these teams will make it. Interesting!

Longhorns --

My initial reaction to the 9:30 and 1:30?.....same as yours. "What?". Back to 40 minutes halves and two games within 4 hours. Makes a lot of sense to me.

Assessment of the brackets? I think FCD got the best draw. Playing three teams that placed 2nd in the first weekend. Worst? Probably the Drifters. Taking on 3 1st place finishers in Shankly, the Warriors and Sao Paulo. That will be a challenge.

All benefit from an extra spot to be had.....but the teams who make it will earn it between the competition and the heat of two games within 4 hours.

Convo -

9:30 am games end say 11/11:15. Cool off and recover for 1 pm game. Brutal! Game management by coaches will be critical for Saturday results.

Games were so close this weekend (my earlier post showing 75% were ties or within 1), that I don't give too much weight on who won or got 2nd in brackets in Round 1.

I just realized that the brackets of 3 are playing both teams in theirs and 1 crossover game?? I thought it was a straight crossover!! Wow! Luck of the draw for sure there on that crossover!

Also, I guess I haven't paid much attention to PPL lately - what was the difference between the red, white & blue divisions last year?

Last year it was jumbo divisions to PPL. There was not one division set up higher than another. All this was due to the change to Age Pure. League didn't have ideal way to have levels so just jumbo. There is NO meaning to the divisions. Look at common opponents in tourneys and that'll prove it.

Jumbo divisions. Within each division, yes the standings have meaning. Of course. But no meaning to Red or White or Blue as the higher divisions relative to each other.

What is PPIL doing this year? Do the results of last years jumbo have meaning or does everyone play a qualifying tournament this year to determine division levels?

This year they went through the standings from last year. Top 3 in each rolled into D1. Then next 3 to D2, etc....

If Liverpool and/or Warriors were not to requalify for LH, would they automatically drop to PPL D1, since they were relegated?

Unless it's changed they would go to PPL D3 and have to win promotions. It's going to be a very interesting weekend!

CB - PPL placement is optional. If you don't do it, you automatically go to the bottom division.

FootyDad - correct. If Liverpool and Warriors don't make LHGCL, then they would be bottom division in PPL and work up from there. PPL does promotion/relegation after fall season so at least there is some movement within a year.

What stinks are if you are a new team (not U11) you don't even get to do Placement. New teams are simply placed in bottom division.

I'm confused. I thought that PPIL didn't have time to do a Placement Tournament after the age pure change and so they made Jumbo Divisions last year as the placement tool for this year. What was the purpose of last years Jumbo Divisions?

CB - I see the confusion....

Last year PPL did Jumbo divisions due to Age Pure.  They played out the 3 divisions all 2016/2017.  Based on final standings in Jumbo divisions they did create D1-D3 divisions for 2017/2018 (varies depending on age group) described above where teams finished 1-3 in Red, White Blue go to D1, etc....

BUT this process only was valid for building a couple of divisions for 2017/2018 on byes.  This still left many teams WITHOUT a bye.  Those teams not receiving the bye for 2017/2018 have to do a placement tourney.  If you didn't play PPL last year, you automatically go to the bottom division.

In short, not every team got a bye.  Those teams have to do placement if enough teams exist to form more than 1 division beyond the last division made up of BYEs.

Confusing, but hope you see it.

How did PPIL determine who got byes? Top team or two in each division? When did they pull this idea out of their a$$?

This might not be in the "We need to look into this Russia-thing" category, but something is certainly fishy about Bracket C.  I, in an attempt to be objective, seeded each team on where they finished in league play last year.  Nothing definitive as this is not my opinion of who's better than whom, just directional for comparison purposes:

1. Warriors  - LH D3 – relegated
2. LP Shankly – LH D3 – relegated
3. Fever United Trevino (F: Hurst) – PPL Red – 1st place
4. High Plains Drifters – PPL Blue – 1st place
5. SPTX SEDEH (Sao Paolo) – PPL Red – 2nd place
6. FCD Youth Black – PPL White - 2nd place
7. Frisco Fusion – PPL Blue – 3rd place
8. Gremio USA - PPL White – 3rd place
9. Legacy FC – PPL Blue – 4th place
10. Texas Fury – PPL White – 5th place

Bracket C has seeds 6, 7, 8 and 9.  Somebody who couldn't win their PPL division will make LH....guaranteed.  Even worse, based on the fact that they play one another......1 of the "Top 2" wildcards will very possibly come from that division as well.

Lastly....who on the selection committee has something against Texas Fury.  The lowest seeded team in my "make up a seeding list".....who do they play?  Seeds 1, 2 and 3.  Ouch.
