Their coach just got fired recently.

As a parent who's been there/done that, do yourself a favor and be sure to have a backup plan (or two) BEFORE July 1 even if everyone in your group says they are staying. There's nothing worse than having to scramble on July 2nd and 3rd.

How about the ones who give a verbal commitment and handshake to 2 or more coaches in June and then make their decision July 1st and instead of letting the other coaches know, just ignore phonecalls, voicemails and texts until they get the message? Or coaches who give a verbal commitment and handshake to a parent only to pick up a better kid who walks across the parking lot on July 1st leaving you scrambling?

All par for the course and the reason nobody trusts anybody as much as they should be able to.

There is never as much as the pundits suggest. There will be 1-2 teams implode and scatter. Beyond that, there will be a little significant movement but not much.
