2011 North Texas State Cup Tournament '95s

Here are the accepted Teams:

1 STING
2 DTR
3 D'FEETERS
4 SOLAR
5 STING BLUE
6 TFC
7 SOLAR ROYAL
8 DTR NORTH
9 FC DALLAS SOUTH
10 ASG GOLD WEST
11 NTx STRIKERS

How will the teams be put in groups with only 11? 4 groups? 3 groups? crossover...

Thinking there will be no conflict for me on Mother's day weekend .

Well another State Cup is upon us and for a few of the teams the last State Cup. I missed most of the Spring season due to a broken ankle but I am planning on hobbling out this weekend to watch the final dance. I get the feeling this year the Cup is up for grabs more so than any other previous year. There could be some upsets but more than likely it will boil down to the Top 4 fighting it out to decide the U16 Champion. Who knows, will it be Sting once again or will D'Feeters or Texans claim their second Title or will Solar peak at the right time and claim their first State Cup Championship? Any team a dark horse who will shock us all???

So I will admit to being new to NTX soccer and ask a silly question. Why all the fuss about the State Cup? Is it a more significant tournament than others? If so, why? Obviously, I have a younger player.

Actually, the big deal is relevant to whatever age group you are in. Its been that under U14...nothing but bragging rights, but it was getting you prepped for what would be your chance at the run on Nationals once you reached U14.

With the ECNL exclusion upon us all, State Cup just became completely irrelevant for all those playing in the ECNL after this year....as did Premier League. the whole USYS system just lost relevance for the top clubs in NTX and the nation.

This year, there is still something to play for, if youre Sting they dont look poised to run the ECNL like they did last year. So a hit at State Cup gets them to Regionals. Feet and Solar havent won Premier League either...so State Cup is their chance to get to Regionals. By winning Regionals, you get into the Nationals tournament, and get your shot at the National Championships.

I do understand. It is a stepping stone to National Championship. I have been reading all the opinions on ECNL so the reference to that helps put it in perspective as well.

So far nothing that appears shocking but a couple slight surprises ?

I'm thinking Feet might have gotten a little nervous only getting 1 goal against North Texas Strikers and having the Strikers almost tie it twice in the last 4 minutes.

Also Strikers 3-1 over Sting Blue might surprise a few.

Strikers played very well and ended up with 19 points in the group, earning a trip to the Semi-finals! Am I correct? IF so, this was a "shock the world" moment...

well done Strikers. and yes, this is a shocker. I think we all penciled in Solar as the wildcard if they didnt win the bracket (course we were counting on winning it). :-)

I would like to thank NTX soccer for giving us 3 games in 20 hours this weekend. Games at 8:00 PM Saturday, then 10:00 and 4:00 on Sunday. What are they thinking? You wonder why kids are getting injured? Oh but they make up for it by giving us the 8:00 AM Saturday semi while the youngers are playing at 12:00.

I am so glad we won't be participating next year.

Its their parting gift to us. The friendly "salute". Tell me their werent laughing when they scheduled it.

I believe LHGCL will handle the scheduling of some local ECNL games next year, so I wouldn't get too excited just yet.

I know it's only 12U soccer but a few weeks back in a tournament my dd's team had to play 4 games in 12 hours. First game was at 7:30am and the 4th game was at 7:30pm the same day.

Anyone on your team have Prom Saturday ?
