Re: 2012 ECNL/id2 National Training Camp
Players are selected for the ECNL PDPs based on their performance in ECNL competitions and recommendations from coaches. Each ECNL PDP will occur over two days and will include three training sessions/matches and a presentation for the players. All players will also receive Nike training gear. The ECNL will be covering the costs of participation in the ECNL PDP, excluding travel costs for participating players.
Based upon their performance in ECNL competitions and in the ECNL PDPs over the course of the year, players may be invited to participate in the 2012 ECNL / id2National Training Camp presented by Nike's The Chance."
So, the players from your team would have been selected through the regional PDP try-outs or directly via scouting during ECNL National Events. Either way if any of your girls were selected they would typically keep that close to the vest as to not hurt the feelings of parents who feel their dd should have been selected.
The two regions "known for" generating the most competitive soccer are NTX and SoCal. During the u15 ECNL National Championship, ALL of the California teams were eliminated in the first round. I don't see evidence of any "lack of respect" for NTX teams/players.

Re: 2012 ECNL/id2 National Training Camp
Here's the 97 group:
http://www.ussoccer.com/Teams/Youth/US-Under15-Girls/Player-Pool/2012-Player-Pool.aspx
http://www.ussoccer.com/Teams/Youth/US-Under17-Women/Player-Pool/2012-Player-Pool.aspx
Keep in mind the pools are not always up to date and a player may be called into 1 random event and not be included in the pool.
I'm guessing your club coach didn't tell you about the youth national teams? Hmmm

Re: 2012 ECNL/id2 National Training Camp
95 Sting - 2 that I know of. One attending - one not (injury).
95 Texans - 1 invited - not attending. (previous engagement)
97 Texans - 1 invited and attending.
95 Hurricanes - 1 invited and attending.
So there is a FEW from our Region. Still poorly represented. Surely there is more out there.

The most intersting thing about the player development situation is that it's almost the same as it was 10+ yrs ago despite the addition of academy, sld, ecnl, etc.. but it's the same coaches and the same training sessions so the result in player development has been the same.

NTX is known for our coach's ability to develop very strong teams that compete (win) very well, and not their ability to develop national level players. Most of them would tell you the same. They don't get paid to put kids on the national teams. Their focus is on team tactics, team drills, atheleticism, size, and discipline. It's a winning combination, and that's what most of
us want. How many times have you seen a 16-18yr old NTX girl who can only play with 1 foot? Can't shoot with their left? Or cross? If she can outrun the defenders then the coach is satisfied with her skill level, I think 'pace' is their word for it. Ever see a defender kick the ball out of bounds rather than trying to make a linking pass? Her coach was happy, she prob. did not have the skills to keep possession. That's poor skills development, and that's why our individual players can't play at highest level. But focusing on skills isn't the easiest way to win is it? IS NTX a hotbed of soccer players? Teams yes, not players. A quick look at the 97 U15 pool shows at least 11 Cali players and 1 lone rep from NTX. Wonder what the message is? Well the Nat program has been sending the same message to NTX coaches for the last 20yrs.
Very well put. And the truth.

That is for the ECNL National id2 camp that is next week in Oregon. I assume official list will be out next week.
About 100 girls are supposed to be there. Ages U15-U17 I think?

Re: 2012 ECNL/id2 National Training Camp
She called me last night and said there are about a handful of Non-ECNL players that were there.
She is a 96 - said she ran into a couple of Solar and Sting 95 players that were there and a Lonestar 96 who was there as well.
One major problem, she wears Copas,,, Yesterday after playing a full day in a brand new pair of Nike Cleats she could barely walk,

Lol, my dd's college team was sponsored by Nike. First day of summer training, she had blisters to beat the band. She went back to her Copa's and would bring home the Nike-issue shoes to give to charity. Good luck to your dd!
