2012 ECNL/id2 National Training Camp Empty 2012 ECNL/id2 National Training Camp

Post by brokedawg 17/07/12, 10:46 pm

The 2012 ECNL / id2 National Training Camp presented by The Chance will invite approximately 90 players from the 1993-1996 birth years to a four-day camp and will be held in July 2012. Players will be invited to participate in the National Training Camp based upon their performance in ECNL competitions and in the ECNL / id2 Player Development Programs over the course of the year. Further information on the 2012 ECNL / id2 National Training Camp presented by The Chance will be provided in the coming weeks. Stay tuned... Has anyone received an invite from NTX???

With the camp starting on the 23rd and without anyone noting an invite to the camp I must say I am surprised that none of our girls were asked to attend...maybe some of the rumors I have heard regarding the lack of respect players from region 3 get on a national level may have some validity. Question Question Question

2012 ECNL/id2 National Training Camp Empty Re: 2012 ECNL/id2 National Training Camp

Post by FatherGoose 20/07/12, 07:52 am

"In 2011-2012, there will be ten such programs taking place across the country, with every ECNL Club assigned to one either based upon their conference or their geographic location. ECNL PDPs will bring together the top 60 players within the conference or geographic region for a weekend of training, competition, and education. Each ECNL PDP will include approximately 60 players: 30 from the 1993/1994 age groups, and 30 from the 1995/1996 age groups.

Players are selected for the ECNL PDPs based on their performance in ECNL competitions and recommendations from coaches. Each ECNL PDP will occur over two days and will include three training sessions/matches and a presentation for the players. All players will also receive Nike training gear. The ECNL will be covering the costs of participation in the ECNL PDP, excluding travel costs for participating players.

Based upon their performance in ECNL competitions and in the ECNL PDPs over the course of the year, players may be invited to participate in the 2012 ECNL / id2National Training Camp presented by Nike's The Chance."

So, the players from your team would have been selected through the regional PDP try-outs or directly via scouting during ECNL National Events. Either way if any of your girls were selected they would typically keep that close to the vest as to not hurt the feelings of parents who feel their dd should have been selected.

The two regions "known for" generating the most competitive soccer are NTX and SoCal. During the u15 ECNL National Championship, ALL of the California teams were eliminated in the first round. I don't see evidence of any "lack of respect" for NTX teams/players.

2012 ECNL/id2 National Training Camp Empty Re: 2012 ECNL/id2 National Training Camp

Post by DrSoccer 20/07/12, 08:48 am

It's not a myth, and it's no secret. NTX is known for our coach's ability to develop very strong teams that compete (win) very well, and not their ability to develop national level players. Most of them would tell you the same. They don't get paid to put kids on the national teams. Their focus is on team tactics, team drills, atheleticism, size, and discipline. It's a winning combination, and that's what most of us want. How many times have you seen a 16-18yr old NTX girl who can only play with 1 foot? Can't shoot with their left? Or cross? If she can outrun the defenders then the coach is satisfied with her skill level, I think 'pace' is their word for it. Ever see a defender kick the ball out of bounds rather than trying to make a linking pass? Her coach was happy, she prob. did not have the skills to keep possession. That's poor skills development, and that's why our individual players can't play at highest level. But focusing on skills isn't the easiest way to win is it? IS NTX a hotbed of soccer players? Teams yes, not players. A quick look at the 97 U15 pool shows at least 11 Cali players and 1 lone rep from NTX. Wonder what the message is? Well the Nat program has been sending the same message to NTX coaches for the last 20yrs.

Go to USSOCCER.COM and click on TEAMS, you will find the age groups and player pools for all the age groups.
Here's the 97 group:
http://www.ussoccer.com/Teams/Youth/US-Under15-Girls/Player-Pool/2012-Player-Pool.aspx

http://www.ussoccer.com/Teams/Youth/US-Under17-Women/Player-Pool/2012-Player-Pool.aspx

Keep in mind the pools are not always up to date and a player may be called into 1 random event and not be included in the pool.

I'm guessing your club coach didn't tell you about the youth national teams? Hmmm

There are youth national pools, odp pools, probably some other pools. Yes, we're familiar with the youth national pools as the NTX rep is from our team.

Post by C U L8R 20/07/12, 02:34 pm

I've heard of the following invites....this is the ones I've HEARD of. Could be others that haven't announced the invitation.

95 Sting - 2 that I know of. One attending - one not (injury).
95 Texans - 1 invited - not attending. (previous engagement)
97 Texans - 1 invited and attending.
95 Hurricanes - 1 invited and attending.

So there is a FEW from our Region. Still poorly represented. Surely there is more out there.

CU what camp is that for?

The most intersting thing about the player development situation is that it's almost the same as it was 10+ yrs ago despite the addition of academy, sld, ecnl, etc.. but it's the same coaches and the same training sessions so the result in player development has been the same.

That is for the ECNL National id2 camp that is next week in Oregon. I assume official list will be out next week.

About 100 girls are supposed to be there. Ages U15-U17 I think?

Any coaches from NTX on staff besides LP's BWaldrum? Do ECNL coaches in region struggle to agree on player recommendations due to the competitive nature of NTX teams among each other? Seems to be poor representation of players at camp

There seems to be pretty good spread. Top clubs represented are:

PDA - 9
Colorado Rush - 6
Sting - 5
CASL - 5

Of note:
D'Feeters - 0
Texans - 0

I know a Texan 95 was invited but had previously scheduled family event that conflicted with the camp. I'm just familiar with the 95 age group and would say congrats to the girls from region 3 that were selected and wish them well.

Just saw this - My daughter who is not on ECNL received an invitation. She received it from being noticed at two different Tournaments.
She called me last night and said there are about a handful of Non-ECNL players that were there.

She is a 96 - said she ran into a couple of Solar and Sting 95 players that were there and a Lonestar 96 who was there as well.

One major problem, she wears Copas,,, Yesterday after playing a full day in a brand new pair of Nike Cleats she could barely walk,

Lol, my dd's college team was sponsored by Nike. First day of summer training, she had blisters to beat the band. She went back to her Copa's and would bring home the Nike-issue shoes to give to charity. Good luck to your dd!

Interesting about Nike cleats. My dd is there and had a horrible 1st day in the Nike cleats (primarily because she picked pair that was too small). Got re-sized first night and second day was much better.
