'05 Girls FBR Rankings - 04-02-14

I was going to release my human poll this week but since no one seems to care about the 05s, I guess I will just wait until next week.

I'll be very curious to see the results.

The record shows that Sting Diaz beat Solar Pulp White today, 2-0.  I must admit, I find it a little interesting that the team Sting beat today looks exactly like the team they played two weeks ago in CFBAL PLAT A Boys, pretty much down to the player.  That would be Solar Pulp Royal.

Semantics, team naming games, and player shuffling aside, the match today was very competitive and enjoyable to watch.

I was there yesterday as well. That was most definitely Solar Pulp Royal, not their white team. I watched their white team play Sting Parsons and was two different groups. I only saw 2 players yesterday that played against Parsons and they played only 5 mins of the game. Was a very competitive & entertaining game. I think the right thing would be for BW to Give Sting Diaz a win over Pulp Royal.

Must be awesome being a parent on the white team and getting the news your daughter isn't good enough to play this weekend. Not the only time it's happened this season...

I think we should vote on Kicks 06 Selecao being included in the 05 rankings.  They are not going to be in the 06 rankings and they will play the top 05 division until select starts.  They are now basically an 05 team because they won't play 06 anymore and this is the group of peers they will see for the next few years.  I understand you don't want to list every 06 team that plays up but I think this is a rare exception because this team plays in the top division and will be researching the 05 forum until select.  It's also a humble group that isn't trying to show up or post scores all the time.

It was like their white team didn't even know they had a game. Definitely not great for development. I know if that happened to my DD we wouldn't be there very long. It reeks of trying to manipulate the rankings. Pretty sad if you ask me. W-L aren't that important right now. By the way Sting Diaz took it as a compliment that they brought there best. Very Classy coach with a very talented group of girls. Will be interesting to see what they do in the future. I see big things ahead of them!!!!

BWG.. I know you have stated the reasoning before, but could you refresh us as to why a team that plays almost all their games a year up would not be included in their rankings?  is it all your lust for power    or does it have a solid logical reason?

Even though MC is a newbie parent,  he makes a good point. It's all in good fun. I say let em in!!

To me, its just how I choose to run it. Its a ranking of 05 teams in this case... 06 teams in my case...

Why do I need to go thru the extra effort of including those teams when Its only the same people asking for where they stand in it... haha..

It takes longer to add more teams, data entry between spreadsheets and the actual FBR, check the final numbers were entered correctly... short of it, makes life easier to exclude them than include them.

Somebody want to put me on payroll to include them i might consider it... open to donations. haha

Gophers must be doing his real job so I will chime in until he does. The history on this is other age groups are excluded to prevent the clutter & confusion for the age group being ranked.

We set the standard at only 3 games against age group opponents to be included in the rankings. So every tournament a younger team plays up, or say an oklahoma team comes to town, they're likely to get a
spot in the CALCULATIONS for FBR. But if you PUBLISH all those teams that are involved in the CALCULATIONS, the FBR for the north texas age group in question ends up a cluttered mess with a bunch of teams
that will only be in the rankings for a short time. So when deciding who to publish, we had to set some standard, and the standard was north texas girls teams of a given age group with at least 3 games against their same age NTX opponents.

It's hard to make an exception for Kicks without letting all the others in and polluting the '05 rankings. FBR has been fairly consistent with how it handles the super teams since day one.

Gophers may make an exception since they're the only team I can remember that is truly playing league games against the top teams of an older age group, but I'm not sure that's enough justification to treat Kicks '06s any differently than the others who came before them.

I would bet a certain coach could also care less to see them ranked here. The teams they have played know their ability.

Younger teams playing "up" are always included in the ranking calculation for the older age group.  However, I always remove those teams from the final ranking list that I post.

My experience is that most people really just want to know where their DD's team stacks up relative to the other teams within their own age group.  The closer the age group gets to going select, the more "important" this becomes to them.  Since the younger teams can't and won't be going select at the same time, adding in the younger teams just "clutters" the ranking list.  If I do this for one younger team, then I really have to do this for ALL younger teams that are playing up, either in leagues or in tournaments.  

So, that's my reasoning, and I see no need to change it now.  Anyone who wants to know where a younger team playing up stacks up in the older age group rankings, just simply has to ask me and I'll let them know.

Agreed...local rankings don't mean much when you're that talented. I think kicks should petition lake highlands to let them enter QT. We've seen now for several years there's no reason to hold these super teams back. Imagine if rowdies 99, bates 01 or srsa 03 had been allowed to play up in qt and challenge their teams in an appropriate competitive environment.

I agree with that in theory. If the 1st season of LH was 8v8 or 9v9 I'd agree 100%. We already push these kids to 11v11 too early.
