N+1 rule

Can someone in the know please explain N+1? I've looked over the PPL website and can't find any info on it. Thanks!!!

N+1 is half of your team +1, so if you had 14 on you roster, in order to have N+1 you need 7+1 or 8 to retain your bye. I believe it rounds up, so if you had 15, you need 8+1 or 9...
The rule is to ensure that a team isn't a completely new team getting a placement on what former players have done since the last season is before the signing period...
LH doesn't follow this rule, so teams from within the same club can take over a bye from a team that disbands...but that is a different question.
