00 D2 predictions 8/24

Not sure if someone else is doing this...and I will probably screw it up, but here goes. A lot of unknowns, but it should be a fun year...new coaches, significant movement on many teams from what I hear.

BOL to all this year

And I'll take the Bus to win it all this year with Ferretti and Gold in a battle for 2nd

What do we know about the teams this year? Did any team have a major turn over. If history repeats itself, then Sting West maybe in for a long year being promoted into their spot. Also it is my understanding that Dfeeter and Mustangs had higher then average turn over? Maybe wrong. What do we know?

Sting West should do just fine. It's a relegated team getting to keep a spot that will likely have the more difficult time....if history repeats itself.

If  the rumors are true, there has been an abnormal amount of turnover on quite a few teams.

Solar Gold- Small turnover?
Dallas Texans North- Small turn over?
Sting West- Small turn over?
DFeeters-Big turn over but signed good players.
Sting Ferretti- Big turn over.
FCD Premier-Big turn over.
Texans FW-Big turn over.
FCD East- were beaten by Legacy & SF recently.

SG had moderate turnover...more than we have seen in recent years, but we had seen no more than 3 turn over in any year until now. I think what is more significant than numbers in turnover is whether those changes change the way the team plays or integrate into what the team has been doing. Sometimes changing the way the team plays is the goal, sometimes the changes are grasping for something hoping to maintain. I don't expect to see the changes on SG downgrade the team in any way.

Several of the players who left went to play on D1 teams, but the additions all add something that we needed or replaced. I think SG is better, but the proof is in the pudding. I think that most teams out there are probably in a similar situation. We lost some good players, but we gained some really good players (and families) as well.

Wow, if the above is a reasonably accurate assessment then that seems like a lot of turnover that went on. That's why I feel truly blessed for my kid to be in the situation she's in. I guess one has to look at what the nature of the turnover was - complete overhaul, top players leaving for higher level teams and needing to be replaced or bottom end of roster being tweaked, but still overall still seems like a lot. It would seem to me that it would be extremely difficult to maintain a consistently high level of team play in that type situation.

Nice job Ferretti-- 1st upset of the season! Sounds like Ferretti was ready to play today! Mustang 1sr game rust? I should've know there was no way that new Ferretti keeper would give up 2 scores in a match.

SG 2:0 DTN 1-0 at half, second goal on PK late. I didn't get to see the whole thing, but heard it was VERY physical. SG found the post a few times as well. Heard DTN is MUCH better than they were last year...

As much as I EVER hate to admit that PR may be right...DTN could be a sleeper. They are BIG, FAST, and physical...of course, maybe he will chime in and translate what I really mean-lol!

BTW-I have spoken to a few people who asked if I was offended by my translated predictions...heck no, that was pure awesomeness!

Good game very hot today. Mustangs got a PK to score goal.

Seems like a little repeat of last year for a few teams that have a difficult time scoring. I think this year will come down to who can finish as defense always seems tough. Any info on who the new teams to the division looked (LA SW etc).

Ferretti played LA last week in Summer Splash tournament and won 3-2 along with a win over FCD east. LA has a strong team. In my top 3 picks.

Just my guess on the season. Only time will tell injuries always play a big part in the out come.

Well if sting f is that tough then they must have either picked up some new talent or really started responding to the coach. Either way good for them and nice improvement year over year. Does anyone have insight?

I know families at SF. He turned over some players that probably needed to go. And he picked up some Big Blue girls. Also I believe Coach to be quite good.

Looks like all 3 changes might be what the doctor ordered.
