FC Dallas Coaching Changes

What is going on at FC Dallas?

A few months ago, Brent Erwin is coaching the 2 top teams, and Megan Hanlon brings in a top 20 group of girls. Now, Hanlon has disbanded and Erwin doesn't appear to be coaching either of the top teams (unless you look at their website, which still shows the Hanlon and Erwin teams).

I have heard this is all "normal coaching changes before going select", but I don't see other clubs going through this much turmoil. If I recall, there were issues about this time last year with the 04 girls, and it took them months and multiple coaching changes before finalizing teams last year.

I looked at the 05 rankings - FC Dallas has 1 top 20 team (after losing Hanlon?!?), compared to 6 (or now 7?) for Sting, 3 for Liverpool, 2 each for Solar and Texans. 13 FC Dallas teams - and only 1 in the top 20? Is this a program issue? Coaching? The boys program appears to be doing well, but I look to the 04 girls and see only 1 FC Dallas team in Lake Highlands.

We spent the winter practicing with 6, 8 or more teams on a field (when we even had practice) - is that normal for other teams? How can that be good for development? Why do I feel like no one seems to care?

Why make an effort when you don't have to?

at fcd it is often a transition to select and too select coaches. Not always a bad deal as long as there is enough of a talent pool. What it takes to develop skillfull kids is not the same skill set it takes to win in slect and unfortunately you must win. FCD has a clear heirarcy (and politics)

upon further thought, scratvh that. It completley out of line and about to collapese over at FCD. Make the jump to LP RASE while you still can. They at least know who their coach will be

Would that coach be the same through the first year of select, or would they change coaches mid-season?

I wouldn't tell you that until after you sign the contract

but seriously to help jibberjabber it doesn't matter over at FCD and no they don't really care (as an organization). They understand that as the game is played now they don't need to develope top teams and players. Come U14 they will field a highly competitive ECNL team by taking in the best talent they can. ECNL is the field of dreams in NTX. Build it and they will come

Maybe..but don't the kids playing on their ppl teams get first shot at their ecnl team?

Yup. It's called PPL, and from the looks of it, FC Dallas has a massive player pool to choose from in that program...

Well, at least they have those 3 turf fields for all their teams to practice on (if they haven't leased them to someone else) and the beautiful grass fields to look at.

Who ever is closest, gets to let their dd bump go's dd for one game from LP Elite or whichever LP team she is guesting or cpp'ing for that weekend.

I guess these ECNL clubs don't even care too much about development. Just siphon off everyone else's best players come ECNL time. Great system.

1- what club in dallas is not about the money? Liverpool?

2-most ECNL clubs through Academy already have the top teams in their respective division and highly ranked on the national level.

3- old boy, this I can agree with. They seem to have a strangle hold on NTX soccer.

4- just cannot support all of your claims.
