Select soccer mandatory fundraisers

Is it typical for North Texas clubs to have mandatory fundraising events where each player is required to raise x amount of funds? If yes, what are the typical fundraisers? If no, how do clubs typically fund players who can not afford to pay select fees?

Thank you

Clubs more and more are mandating required fundraising. I won't go into who! The one most typical that has been used bye more than one club is the selling of flats of flowers. Other might include raffle tickets and candy sales. Typical funding for players who cannot pay mostly comes from the individual teams and parents that are willing to help. Other types of funding comes from scolarships that are added to the individual dues.

DD is in her 6th year of academy/select. Her team has been with 3 different clubs over that span. All 3 clubs are considered "Big" clubs in NTX. Have never had a "mandatory" fundraiser at any of those clubs.

I know for sure that two out of the three clubs provided opportunities for individual families to fundraise to offset the cost of dues (i.e. one of the clubs did concessions at AAC and you could work the concessions and have a credit for those hours applied to your DD's dues). The 3rd club might have had similar opportunities as well, but I just didn't know about them. Also, some clubs mandate that if your DD receives any kind of scholarship, that you are required to provide X number of volunteer hours to the club (field marshal at tournaments, etc.).

We've also done a couple of team-based fundraisers, but those were decided upon by the parents and coach, not the club. Funds raised from those were applied to the team account to offset things like tournament entry fees, indoor field rentals, etc.

My 3 dd's played for 6 different clubs all the way through. 5 of the 6 had mandatory fundraisers built into the contract.

Never did the flower thing though Laughing

I assume that depends on how good the player is. Very Happy

A few years ago, a lady at work had a son whose son's fundraiser was to sell life insurance policies. No kidding. The coach was an insurance agent. No kidding.

There's a bunch of MLM guys around too. While not mandatory, some poor folks have a garage full of miracle protein powders and skin care products. Shocked
