When do open practices start?

Someone told me (and his reliability is questionable) that due to age pure shifting, open tryouts/practices begin May 1 this year instead of the normal June 1. Can anyone confirm this? I guess I could call North Texas Soccer, but it's easier to ask here.

Per Rule 3.10.10
After completion of State Cup competition for their age group or completion of league play for their team, whichever is last (the end of the soccer-playing year for competitive players), players may practice with other teams without any required release or other permission, although formal tryouts may not be held until July 1. Players wishing to guest play in tournaments must always obtain a properly signed guest player release.

1. Regardless if your team is participating in State Cup or not, you must wait for your teams age group to complete competition in State Cup, to begin open tryouts. You must also be done with your teams league games.

2. Releases - No releases are issued after April1. If you did not obtain a release by April 1, you are still rostered to your team. You still need your coaches signature to guest play. For questions about guest play, please contact Beatriz at beatriz@ntxsoccer.org

3. Practice before the end of State Cup - A player may practice with another team if he has received a written permission letter signed by his current coach that sets out the dates, and the team with which the player will practice.

Potential rainout for State Cup this weekend so open practices may be pushed back a little depending on reschedule.

My child has a late 01 birthday and plays on an 02 team right now. Does anyone know what the last day is that they will considered an 02 player? Is it when tryouts start?

Last day for current age grouping is June 30 for all USYSA or US Club events. July 1st everything will change to new calendar year age chart.

If state cup gets postponed, that leaves the bye playoffs the next couple of weekends, then state cup? Might as well just be June 1st.

Can't image they wait to reschedule State Cup until after the LHGCL playoffs. My bet is they reschedule State Cup to the following weekend and those teams playing in both will play plenty of games in one weekend..

Rumor I heard at the sidelines of last week's LHGCL games: "The league does not consider the D1 playoffs as a part of regular league play. When you finish your last regularly scheduled league game, you are done with league play".

Of course this was said by someone who heard it from her aunt, who spoke with a guy, that lives next door to a woman who dated someone from the North Texas Soccer office back in the 80's. . . so who knows?

If you bring in a different coach and advertise that it's an open practice for a new US Club roster team, it doesn't matter.  When the NTSSA rep shows up, just say that you are planning to roster the team in the PT league...

Open practices... DD's coach told parents after the first week in May players are allowed to attend open practices with other teams. However, within the same email the Coach also states that if players attend other practices, they "more than likely" won't be asked back. All the while, the coach is actively recruiting new players and telling the current players at practice that others will be coming to practice soon to tryout for their spots. Curious, does this sound familiar to others?

Coaches SHOULD be recruiting and opening practices based on the fact that they will be the last to know if a player or players are leaving. It's their job to keep the team intact. There is always attrition to deal with. I would be concerned if a coach wasn't keeping eyes peeled for potential players because it's what's best for the team.

Sounds like your coach could maybe use some pointers on how the message is delivered, but no one likes the thought of their players looking at other teams.

Do players need a release to play in tournaments with a different team within the same club after the regular season is over?
