05s 2016 QT

Alot of good games this weekend even in the heat.

Is it listed anywhere how many teams are going first round and how many second round? Probably right in front of me on the website but I am missing it.

There was some good soccer this weekend. Some expected results and some interesting results. Now that QT brackets are up let's take a stab at bracket winners the first round. I'll start:
B1-LP Elite
B2-Selecao
B3-Kicks JM
B4-Fever
B5-Texans
B6-Bellatores
B7-Sting Covey

How many spots are open?

12 in D1, 7 in D3

Looking at QT with 28 teams and 19 spots available-   12/D1 - 7/D3

The first weekend will have to have all 12 of the D1 spots filled by taking 7 group winners and then 5 of the highest 2nd place finishers.

Then next weekend would be left with exactly 16 teams competing for 7 places in D3
4 group winners and then 3 highest 2nd place by points.

if you only take group winners on the first weekend there is not a clear way of sorting things out after that with 5 groups and only 4 D1 Spots remaining.

Just a guess on this but seems like the only choice

With 7 group winners, there would still be 5 D1 spots left. As you said at first.

Yup.
1) I bet they take only winners first weekend. Leaving 5 D1 spots.
2) Make five brackets of 4 the second weekend. (They'll kick one team completely out after the first weekend to make 20 left.)
3) Five winners get final 5 D1 spots.
4) 5 second place plus top two 3rd place get D3.

It's what they've done in the past.

Skiberdad that is true - they could kick one team out, did not think of that.

Last year, they kicked 4 teams out after the first weekend....

There are always surprises.... but then a lot of those end up getting skunked when the season plays itself out. Be careful what you ask for... lol

Agree 100%, you will always have a game were that top team over looks there competitor and gets blind sided.

Here is last years QT week 1 there were 3 upsets out of 12 brackets.
the Upset in bracket C was a big shocker No3 losing to No22 seeded team.

Shows it can happen anywhere, also proves the point you may be careful what you ask for.
Seems was a tough season for no22 in D1. But really in those super groups there are usually 4-5 teams with tough seasons every year..

Anyone know all the teams that have a bye into D1 this year

That's a good point.  You can make a pretty good guess by seeing what teams are signed up for QT....BUT that's not to say some shenanigans can't occur to stack certain teams to get more teams in.  I dunno.  Maybe I'm naïve, but I've going to try to believe that clubs are straight up and don't try to bring ringers in to qualify.

This is north Texas, though so, nothing will surprise me.
