Re: 95 d3...
1. Polaris SC is a given, too many good players to falter, and the last team to put 2 goals on Sting 95!
2. FC Dallas Blue, should be good enough.
3. TFC Blue, seem to be winning their share and look to be Top 5 in this group.
4. Sting Silver, right there with TFCB.
5. StingWest Blue, the unknown, but I bet will come in stronger that many may think.
Dark Horse Herr Kang Coaching, FC DALLAS YOUTH FC DALLAS 95 GOLD WEST. Could they toughen up, play well and knock down a team to get in?

I would favor something more along the lines of 2 groups of 4, and two 3's playing crossover... Winners all go through ( 4 slots filled). Second place in each group comes back next round ( 4 teams) to play for final slot...

Having had to return to QT, I prefer any method that does not involve two weekends.... LOLgdubya wrote:Will there be two first round byes? Top two teams from each bracket would then go to round 2 joined by the byes for a 2 bracket-8 team round 2???

Re: 95 d3...
It should be 4 groups, play 3 games each with winners of each group advancing week 1, and following weekend the best remaining 4 play for final spot in the League.

1) FW FC White - came down from D2
2) - open? Solar White - came down from D2 - but heard disbanded/combined
Solar Blue - gets bye into D2 from Solar Red disband
3) Hurst United moves to Solar club, gets Solar Blue D3 bye
4) Sting West Royal 95 - 4th place D3
5) Dallas Texans White Dallas - 5th place D3....

Re: 95 d3...
ROUND 1: (21 games)
Teams will be seeded into 2 Brackets of 3 and 2 Brackets of 4.(corrected)
Brackets
A1 B1 C1 D1
A2 B2 C2 D2
A3 B3 C3 D3
A4 B4
Teams in Bracket A & B will play all other teams within their Bracket, teams in Brackets C & D will play
crossover games (each team will play the 2 teams in their bracket plus 1 team in the other bracket).
The 1st place teams from each Bracket will qualify for Division III. All other teams are eliminated.

Re: 95 d3...
DI Solar 95
DII Solar Royal prev Tx Spirit (DII retained)
DII Solar Red prev FWUnited (DII promoted)
DII Solar Blue (Solar Red's DII)
DIII Solar White prev Hurst United (Solar White's DIII)
DIII Solar Blue bye remains
Did TX Spirit Club retain a DII bye and have yet to name a team or did they all go over to Solar? This would mean there actually 2 Solar Teams in DIII? and a new TX Spirit team in DII...

Re: 95 d3...
Bracket D is the easiest path, so? Why would a team fear playing Sting Silver or TFC Blue?
What's the complaint?

Nothing against TFC or Sting Silver... my problem with this type of cross-over is that it is (A) unequal competition..i.e. teams do not play the same competition, and (B) the format is set up to pretty much guarantee the top seed in each of the "3" groups wins the division.
If I am not the top seed then I am pissed, because I am not playing an equal battle for the win..... With this much at stake it should be a balanced challenge.. That's how the 4 team brackets are set up, why do the three team groups get screwed.
thats all... and to be clear I have no dog in this hunt... I just despise this cross-over format.

Re: 95 d3...
My cynical guess would be money. It costs money to have a second weekend. Besides the obvious case with the 2000's, only the '96's are set up for 2 weekends.Slakemoth wrote:[With this much at stake it should be a balanced challenge.. Re: 95 d3...
Slakemoth wrote:I agree, LH certainly want to avoid a second weekend of qualifiers if possible.. I totally get that.... they still could play the cross-overs as true cross overs, i.e. the teams in group C play the teams in group D... easy as pie and EQUAL play for all teams. ( equal as in advancement is based upon playing the SAME opponents). I'm not quite sure where this new format for "cross-over 3's" came from, but I have watched it creep into the tournaments slowly but surely and I friggin hate it..... if you couldn't tell.
Uh....In a "true" crossover its not anymore equal than in this set up. Not everyone plays the same teams. Advancement in a true crossover is usually top two out of the six (not the bracket winners) advance. And of course the six dont all play the same teams.
If you set up a "true" crossover, how would you seed it? If you put the top two seeds on different sides of the crossover then they would have to play each other. The whole point of seeding is that the top seeds play the lower seeds. So instead, then you would put the top two seeds on the same side. That works for the top seeds, but one of the middle seeds gets screwed in that format. Which then leads to this format. Strange yes. But not abysmal. Unless you are a bottom seed in that group.

There was some player movement on that team. Whether they kept enough players to move the bye to Solar, I do not know.

Past history seems to indicate that a D3 team once relegated must go to QT. Any unclaimed byes only open more spots for QT.
