Past history seems to indicate that a D3 team once relegated must go to QT. Any unclaimed byes only open more spots for QT.

If you set up a "true" crossover, how would you seed it? If you put the top two seeds on different sides of the crossover then they would have to play each other. The whole point of seeding is that the top seeds play the lower seeds. So instead, then you would put the top two seeds on the same side. That works for the top seeds, but one of the middle seeds gets screwed in that format. Which then leads to this format. Strange yes. But not abysmal. Unless you are a bottom seed in that group.

I hear you, and I get what you are saying. In this case I wouldn't be against the top two seeds in the same group, at least all would play the same teams ( the three teams in group 1 would play the three teams in group 2)... BUT truth be told I would be more in favor of each group having a "top, middle & low" seed and then playing the other group. I don't care that one top seed might beat the other and allow a middle or low seed to knock them out... too bad.. if you can't get the job done then you don't go through..... make sense?

Kicks, Polaris was relegated in 2008-2009, but the format change in DI allowed and additional team to remain in DIII without requalification... maybe this is not the exact case though.

Regarding cross over play in brackets C & D, if you can't get points off the 3rd and 4th seeded teams you are simply not going to make it anyway. The deck is stacked against you though, I agree. BUT, the 3rd and 4th teams are not juggernauts!

Deadline for Returning Teams to register for LHGCL is August 10. Therefore it seems to me mystery solved... There is an undeclared team from a club that owns a bye out there that will indeed plug into DIII because DI and DII are filled up. Here is complied DII list:
STING WEST
STING ROYAL 95
SOLAR ROYAL(TX SPIRIT 95)
ASG GOLD WEST 95
DALLAS TEXANS RED NORTH 95
NTX STRIKERS BLUE 95
SOLAR RED (FWUnited)
FC DALLAS RED

I know Solar owns the D3 bye, they just don't have another team to put in there at the moment. No rumbles from different contacts either about movement to that club.....if they don't fill it, it should open up a 5th slot for QT. Can a club pay for the bye fee without a team to put in there or in anticipation of a team possibly coming in? If they can, what then happens if no team shows up? Does that open the 5th slot? LH should know who has paid the bye fees and who hasn't. I was just wondering who the 5th bye went to.....its a mental thing for this weekend for some team.... thanks for the input though, much appreciated.

Maybe they are holding onto it until QT is over in hopes of attracting a team that didn't quite make it.
A bye could turn into a commodity to be sold to the team / coach willing to pay the highest dues. And of course no scholarships.

I believe this is exactly what's happening. Say a team lost in QT, can that team disband, the girls just say, "I quit"? and then be released by coach and from NTSSA contract and re-sign by 10 August? I doubt it...
