PPIL Placement Tournament

I heard something funny the other day. I heard that PPIL is holding a placement tournament this year. The funny part is that we were told that this entire season of jumbo divisions was THE placement tournament that was set up in order for PPIL to determine sorting of the next years divisions.

So if there's going to be a placement tournament then what's the point of this entire year of soccer games? Why didn't they just have a placement tournament last year? Instead everybody wasted their time. The A teams wasted their time and money by playing the D teams and it didn't help them. The D teams wasted their time and money by having to play the A teams and it didn't help them either.

Maybe I'm missing something. Was there any logistical reason not to have a placement tournament before the year began like has been done in prior years?

It would be my assumption that the placement tournament would be for those teams that are trying to get into PPIL. Not for those that are presently already there.

I'll bet you are correct. Thanks for the info.
They leave a lot of discretion up to the VP of Competition to determine division size, if there needs to be a placement tournament, etc... The info sent out says that D1 will be the top 3 from each division, D2 is next 3. For a two division league that's only 6 teams per division but it makes sense for a 3 division league at 9 teams. No info on how they handle a two division league.

0 divisions: 1 age group (99)
1 division: 3 age groups (06, 00, 98)
2 divisions: 4 age groups (05, 04, 03, 01)

PPIL is disaster waiting to happen the way they handled it this year. They let everyone in fine but now you have to cull the herd. LH 20 team division is bad enough but even the bad ones had to win a few games to get in. Plano should have culled out the dregs after Fall. Don't have a DD in this but if I did I would have been all over the forum with this one.
