I have an 04 son who has been offered a chance to tryout for an ECNL team, I don't really know much about the league. He has been playing Classic D1. Thoughts?

Thought the tryouts were open.

So sure; tryout.

If he makes the team and you want to increase your travel; then go for it.

Yes I realize ALL tryouts are open that wasn't exactly what I meant. Is the ECNL league worth playing in over Classic?

People I know with Fever United who did ECNL that first year did both, Classic and ECNL.

I think Fever dropped out because level of play was lower than expected. Likely be better now and get better moving forward...but really I stick to my first statement "You want to increase your travel; then go for it."

Our coach's advice was that if you are going to try for ECNL, might as well wait - improve your skill and try for DA. His thought was that Classic offered the same, if not better competition, without the rigor of travel.

DA is not really an option as my son REALLY wants to play HS soccer. The club we are looking at has excellent facilities and a great GK coach. Things our current club is lacking. Of course he has to be asked to join first. Just wanted feedback about the ECNL.
