Does anyone have any insight regarding the newly formed DAL (CAL and DIAL leagues combined)?  Any 06G teams looking to register for Academy this fall?  Is the Academy side truly competitive?  Your thoughts are appreciated.

Depends on what you call "competitive". Over the past 5-7 years, the CAL/DIAL leagues have generally been on the weaker side of the academy leagues. A step up from rec, but only on par with the bottom divisions of leagues like UAL, PTCL, SDL, PAL, and PSA.

It will all come down do what level of competition you are looking for, how much you are willing to pay, and how far you are willing to drive for games on a regular basis. DAL might be a nearby, attractive alternative for you, but I would be surprised if it's more than a small step up from rec in terms of competitiveness.
