What coach/club? This should be escalated to NTSSA.

I agree that's the problem and I've been guilty myself before for just going along, this guy has just set me off because it's a whole new level of deception.  Now he has lowered the dues by $500, almost like, oops you caught me.  Two people have already left and a bunch have called the club to complain.  Does anyone know when the contract goes into effect?  It seems like you have until the end of July, even if you wrote a check to back out.  The classic is I can't even get an answer as to who has my check.

Stop payment on it if it has not been cashed and you will figure out pretty quick who has it.

if everyone had until the end of July, half of the teams would implode.

Nice thought, but no one in the youth soccer industry cares.

It is not in any of their best interests to care, or to take on the headache and cost of trying to fix it at this point in time. No downside to them of it operating the way it is.

Simple Cost Benefit issue.

This is one of those times that a club and a team need to learn a lesson. That coach is going to hold a grudge towards those parents that called him out. You still have time to get out but need to act quickly!

The team Fee Sheet should have been provided to all players/parents prior to them having to sign. If these "Team Dues" were not listed on that fee sheet...then I would think the contract could be deemed void. But, I really don't have a clue so...

Sounds like team dues should be the least of your concerns. I would be more worried about retribution.

The same coach CPPd multiple ECNL starters to play the entire LH D1 game while regular D1 players watched from the bench. What do you think is going to happen when he finds out you were here airing his dirty laundry?

The team fact sheet only has a field for 3K or more if I remember most of the ones I have seen. Plenty of ways to fight that though if you have several people with you. Alone it is one hand clapping. Get 5-6 parents and the club will listen. Especially when it looks like they lose a team. Fight fire w fire there. Cost them money and cost/benefit swings your way...

Oh, and OLJW... Very Happy

best case is the manager still has the checks and the contracts and you ask nicely and the items are returned. Laughing

worse case: check has cleared and team roster has been registered with the appropriate governing body

the worst case likely materializes this week, early if team is entering qualifiers

Where are our investigative print and tv journalists when you need them?

Dig an inch deep and they could blow the lid off club soccer.

We know the club, the age of the team, and the division. Who is the coach? This needs to be public as the team expenses are to allow others the opportunity to make decisions on where their DD and money should be spent without the worry of some one possibly padding their pocket book.

Should not be too hard to figure out the names of the potential culprits if anyone cares.

From there it would only take about 24hrs for parents/managers to identify the innocent ones and you have your name.

I've seen this D1 team play.  Great group of girls . . .

Apparently in State Cup this spring, the coach wasn't aware of the roster limitations.  Showed up with too many on the bench after bringing in his ECNL players.  Had 2 paying D1 players take off their jerseys and sit behind the bench during the game.

Tried for an interview after the game but he ran off.  Muttered something about being headed to a mission trip.

I can give you some more info.  As I said, we've been around a while so my radar is definitely on but I just want to make sure I'm not missing something.

It's a LH team so there is no extraordinary travel.  The coach trains two teams together, about 40 kids so you would assume his time is being very well compensated.  The first I saw these costs was at signing, no discussion before.  It seems like the costs were sprung out at the last possible time.

Does he train all those kids by himself?

As soon as the check is cashed - the exchange of funds executes the contract...

Parents should report this activity to the head of coaching and then to NTX Soccer.

If the rumor mill is correct (which it always is right?), the DOC has been notified but I don't think it's gone to NTX yet.

So do the fees include air fare and hotels? Any National League fees? Or are those separate fees?

Highly doubt if NTX will do anything in this case, except maybe allow releases to parents who want out before the season starts if the club refuses to grant them.

Very important to all to make sure you know club fees, uniform fees, and team fees before signing. It seems the clubs are taking all the money for club fees leaving nothing to the teams for expenses throughout the season. Opening up another area for corruption and inappropriate fund allocation. Good Luck!
