King TUT Boys ( Too hot?) Empty King TUT Boys ( Too hot?)

It looks like the forecast for this Saturday and Sunday is going to be a high of 108 and maybe higher with a heat index probably over 110.

Never seen it before but any chance FCD cancels the tournament due to heat? It makes little sense for kids to be playing in these temperatures in the middle of the day.

They are only going to play four games in the 100 degree weather.  They will be fine.  Let the kids have fun.  It is about them.

If it is this hot it will definitely be all about them as I stay in the car or drop them off. May tell my kid to stand in the middle field, don't run too much, sit down if your hot and teach him the signal for "coach I need a sub"

Too hot - it is crazy they haven't already cancelled it. Maybe they will wait until closer so they can keep all of the money. That would even be fine with me at this point.

I hope so! Making money at the cost of kids overheating isn't good business practices but then again its FCD.

PLEASE CANCEL

King Tut plays on! Which I'm glad but coaches and parents need keep watch closely to keep kids safe. They are going to be liberal with subs and 2 water breaks per half, tents and ice baths on hand. Anyway FCD has money. Lol.

FCD has money is right as they profit roughly 4+ million per year from their youth program.

Of all clubs, you’d think FCD would follow USSF guidelines, which say “no training” under these conditions. But they don’t follow USSF guidelines regarding headers at younger ages at TuT, so I’m not surprised. Good for Puma for being wise and following the guidelines.

So Puma Cup cancelled and pocketed half of every team's money without playing a game? Now that sounds like a damn good way to make some money

Not sure what registration fee was, but probably amounts to about $15-20/player after the refund. My kid is worth more than that. And tourney does have expenses to cover. Very much doubt they are making a big profit, if at all.

If you signed up and want to not play due to weather, is there a penalty? Everyone acts like it is up to FCD to cancel when all teams have free will. Is everyone afraid of looking bad by not showing when the other teams do? If someone leads, others will follow....

Now why would anyone be following USSF guidelines, considering we didn't even qualify for the World Cup. Laughing  Seriously, it's gonna be hot, but as mentioned earlier, they'll take multiple water breaks during game play. Parents will need to take to lead and ensure their BB is drinking plenty of water and keeping cool between games. We live in Texas, so we should expect the heat during this time of year. Either way, the kiddos will have a blast.

No penalty, just call your team manager or coach and let them know you're son won't be playing due to the weather. Remember you're the parent, you have the authority to keep little junior home should you choose. Just don't expect the rest of the team to do the same. Very Happy

Nothing new there.  Fairly certain they have pulled the plug early 3 out of last 5 years.  At least this time it isn't because it sprinkled; so I guess they have that going for them.

The forecast I am looking at came down a tick so it's only going to be 113 with the heat index at game time. Just hope no one suffers a serious injury or heat related issue and they have plenty of medical staff on site.

Heard there will be communal ice baths so maybe get to look forward to some staph infection as well.

I am sure everything will be fine this weekend, and there will not be any issues.  That being said, if you are having ice baths ready for kids as young as eight as a precaution to heat-induced injuries, just maybe you should rethink your priorities. Just saying.

FCD needs to collect it's parking fees. Curious what they use that money for? Definitely not on shade trees or shade structures.
