So certainly the girls who stand out now will get that support and field time, and confidence. Those that get subbed out frequently or have limited playing time will always be playing catch up. That's why it really does not matter if you are on a super strong team -who cares? Be on a team where your kid can play, feel important and make a difference. Some of these kids on top teams will get fed up (or most likely parents will) of playing second fiddle behind the player(s) the COACH has deamed the MVP- not neccesarily who actually has the potential to be the longrun MVP.Some coaches get this-some do not and just want to win "for now"-some more interested in building great teams down the road. Just food for thought.
Okay, how much crucial experience and confidence is your child going to get if his/her team is getting killed every week? The level of team DOES matter or these fancy soccer clubs would be out of business and everyone would play REC. The better players bring up the level of the whole team, and shouldn't be punished or resented for it. The child doesn't choose their playing ability, they are born with it (despite what ANY coach claims he has done for you). OF COURSE every single parent on this forum wants their child to be a star on their team, but if all else fails, THEY ALL WANT TO WIN! (Yes YOU DO too). You are lying to yourself if you say otherwise, and the reason is because every parent wants the best for their child. They don't go out to a team and say "Hey, child of mine, today we are going to pick a team where you will not make a difference, get overlooked, ride the pine, and lose a lot of games!"

I never mentioned a low low team that was getting killed each week . I merely said that your dd doesn't have to be on the TOP team to improve and gain confindence and improve her plating in general.beeyoutful wrote:BJones wrote:Very true -those that stand out at this age will most likely continhue to stand out -others may join them, but if a coach sees potential now and let's you play and make mistakes and not sub you out often you are getting crucial experience and confidence and that's what makes good players in the long run. I 100% agree my dd could play for one of the top teams but from what I see these teams are not developing they are recruiting. They are on this board day in an day out needing players yet they have 2 to 3 teams that are fully loaded. I am happy with the team my daugher is on we may not be in the top 5 but she gets to play a lot and has fun. I also want to thank the guys at Global Futbol Training for helping to make her a better player. I would suggest that anyone that hasnt tried GFT to take your daughter to them for a few shooting and skills lessons and see how much they improve in a few weeks.

Hootna wrote:I was going to do the same this last season after my first Academy experience left a bad taste. I caved in to the need to watch her in SDL although I am sure she would do just as well playing REC and going to GFT each week. The money I have spent on Academy would be better spent on GFT lessons.
That is what we did with ours a couple of years ago though the skills were not with GFT. We skipped joining (meaning paying) at any of the academy programs and focused on skills. She played SDL with a few teams and went to practices periodically at a few different clubs and had 3 different options when it came time to go select.
If your dd is good enough the teams at the right level for your dd will want her regardless of where you train or do academy. In our dd's case it was at a team that ended up near the top of D2 where she played every minute of every game and understands that how she played usually had a determining impact on the outcome of the game.
Yes we could have joined an academy program and gotten her on a D1 team though she would have probably been a marginal (bench) player her first couple of years, but what would be the point? We know a couple of kids who went that route and have not played any significant minutes in 2 years. It has been a demoralizing / confidence damaging experience.

Based on your avatar, who knows what kind of perversion is in that video.
