'03 Advanced Power Rankings- Preseason

Here's the last Advanced Power Rankings from June. Now, it's time to create a Pre-Season ranking. Now, this is where I need some help (I'll also need some help during the season getting those SDL scores). Help me out by letting me know what teams have imploded, joined forces, lost significant talent, picked up a game changer, etc. If there's a brand new team out there that you think is Top40 material...let's hear it. If you want to submit a Human Poll, feel free. The initial Power Ranking will be a combination of last season's final rankings and the information this forum provides...and then I'll throw in this weekend's results. After next week, we'll rely soley on the game results. With the Advanced Power Rankings, it's possible for a team to move 7 or more spots in any given week, so if we 'get it wrong' with our preseason picks....I'm confident things will sort themselves out early into league play.

I put them there cause i dont remember them playing any of the top 10 teams last season, but i could be wrong or we shall see this season if im right or wrong.

I will refrain from ranking and let the experts handle that. I have enjoyed the more fact based versions and I think those will definitely put Fever in the top 5 and may drop Sting West and LP Dalglish a bit.

Not too much talk about Polaris. They showed well in TGPL last Spring. Also, believe that 4-9 are fairly tight. It will be interesting to see if Fever and Mendoza can separate themselves from this pack.

I agree with your top 10 minus Polaris. I heard Polaris lost some players so I'd put Liverpool Dalglish or Copa (whatever they want to call themselves these days) at 7 and drop the ones below down a notch.

Was wondering why Polaris is not playing TGPL, losing players is one thing. Next question, did they lose top end players and having trouble replacing with top level players?

I think Liverpool Dalglish/Copa will need to prove that they can beat teams 7-9 before one place them at 7, IMHO. With all the teams that Liverpool has, I am sure they will build a top level team. All I am saying is to let them prove it on the field like the other top 10 teams have already done.

They have beaten juventes or Fc dallas east last season in a tourny. Thats why i had them up higher than fever cause i dont recall them playing anyone in the top 10.

Ok, that is understandable. With that knowledge, you will need to put Cosmos ahead of Sting Mendoza since they beat them this past Spring in TGPL, then Sting West ahead of Cosmos since they beat them in several tourneys this summer and then put Mendoza back ahead of them since they beat Cosmos in a tourney this summer.

The joys of human polls which always makes for good conversation. As I said, I think 4-9 are pretty tight and if you add Liverpool to the mix you have 4-10. I think we will see slight separation b/t those teams and I think we will see the top teams come back to field slightly by the timeselect rolls around.

Sounds like liverpool is a good team and we'll see how the perform this Fall in TGPL.

Solar Blue slowly moving up -should move up from top 30 to top 20. Won spring U10 9v9 UAL. Over summer, beat Solar K #18 to win a primetime tourney, 2nd in Flamefest. Tied FCD Palimasano (#15)at Texas Summer Classic (but should have readily beat, scoring opportunities and shots like 20-1) (though thoroughly in another class, even did score on Texans South - taken back for offside position, not offside, player).
