Interesting Nov. 16-18 Tournaments
Texans Fall Festival and HUSA Turkey Shoot
Texans Fall Festival:
This one will be interesting to see what Texan teams emerge or fall. I have heard of some key player movement so I am predicting some upsets.
What is easily predictable that Sting Mendoza will be in the final - but against who?
DTS - probably?
DT FTW Rambo - maybe?
DT Moreno or Barakat - remotely possible?
HUSA:
This one has some teams who have been somewhat out of the spotlight- D'Feeeters 03 and Legacy have had good squads in the past and I am sure have been staying out of the "fast lane" on purpose.
From what I have seen, I'm going to call GSSC Thunder in the final on this one - against who? Your guess is as good as mine.

Re: Interesting Nov. 16-18 Tournaments
HUSA Turkey Shoot has a couple mediocre teams, but nothing to get excited about.
You missed out on the Primetime tournament though, this has the best group of teams overall (DTSC is a close 2nd though) for the weekend, and it's the toughest to call...
p.s. the D'Feeter team referenced isn't the same as "in the past", that would be the Mbemba team who's in Primetime. However, I am curious as to what D'Feeter team is playing in the HUSA, I was unaware of a 2nd D'Feeter team, wonder if this is an independent team who's just borrowing a name??

Clearly DTS? I hear their core is weakening...
You are right:
Primetime:
I will call LP Daglish and FCD Predator in the final - Predator takes it on penalty kicks - unless new rumored LPD players show up, then it might be a different story...

Good point. Pro's get paid millions to play at a high level. You can't play 7 games in a weekend at a high level, even pro's. For the littles, more touches on the ball helps them improve more quickly, but I can see a few drawbacks to overkill. As the weekend wears on the overall tendency will be for teams to get sloppy due to fatigue. Everyone will be trying not to succumb to that tendency but many will fail. You can end up with a scenario where a team falls into old/bad/lazy habits purely due to fatigue. It's the law of diminishing returns and negative learning. The team that is the best when fresh may not be the best team on Sunday when everyone is exhausted. The best coaches will point all this out and talk about it with their team. Each game is a 10k but the tournament is an Ironman.Triumph FC wrote:Tournaments are a crap shoot sometimes. Think about this though when people sit there and annalyze results, in the Turkey Shootout you will have to play 6 gareach the final, with 4 being on Sunday! Add to that our Aguero team has a Friday night EAL make up game and thats 7 in 3 days! The pros dont play 2 games in 2 days so what are we doing to the players?

I agree with TFC, you never know what you are going to get. All it takes is for some team to get hot and then all of a sudden they are the next big thing. I can see a team like Keegan or Whelen making some noise once it gets to the elimination rounds. Those girls seem to get up for big games and don't have much quit in them. Should be a fun weekend.

Why not forfiet the Friday night game and allow the team to rest? Really, league play is about the development and tourneys are more for the win and the trophy. 4 games on a Sunday is a bit much in my opinion. At least the weather will be nice.

I'd be shocked not to see Sting Mendoza and DTS in the final of this one.
Sting Goodman and a very good defensive team DT FW Hernandez
will have success as well. Solar Kenn 03 and Barakat are very even and may see the semis.
It will be a learning experience for DT Moreno and the Stangs, but a good experience nonetheless.
Rambo is not playing in this top division.
DTS 1-0 over Sting Mendoza in the final.

Re: Interesting Nov. 16-18 Tournaments
Because I have ethics and we signed up for the league and they rescheduled a game for the Friday night. I would be mad if the coach forfiet the game on us. Anyway we might have a stinker in our 3 bracket games (first time at 11v11 on the big field)and only play 4, which is still too many anyway, so we signed up and we will take our chances. Playing in tournaments have no development value as you cant put the things right (with practice) from the previous game so we are in there for the experience going forward. My thought is if we make the QF we've done well anything else is a bonusjj4mel wrote:Triumph FC wrote:Tournaments are a crap shoot sometimes. I think a DTS and Sting Mendoza final is inevitable, but shorten halves may benefit a solid team like DTFW. As mentioned, a very good defensive team.

I think the shorter halves are definitely needed for DTFW to keep their d fresh unless they have added to their roster. Who is coaching this weekend?

PT Tourney
An interesting story to follow here will be to see how strong of a team Sting/Scarfone fields if the rumored defections are true. Maybe there will be a surprise in Pool B.

With this being a preholiday tournament I'm going to guess that there are a few upsets and things don't go to seed. Going to be a great weekend for soccer.

After looking at the bracket again... It's the quarters not the semis that SS should have little difficulty reaching...IMO...that is if they avoid the upset bug.
I agree there is an unknown with how a team responds to a new coach.
I have a feeling this group will come out hopping and ready to play!
