...that Renfro picked up a PPL Div. 3 Keeper?    

Can anyone please confirm?  If so, how's that going to work this fall???

I did here is last year keeper had moved to grubs and he was looking for a keeper.

My understanding is the DTS 02 keep went to FCD Premier.  

As far as FCD Renfro taking a PPL D3 keep.  Maybe she is very athletic and has great potential.  A good keeper trainer can get her in pretty good shape in just a few months I bet.  She may have experience by getting a lot of work on her current team...add natural ability and she may surprise ya.  I wish her and Coach Renfro lots of luck.

How did you assume that from me simply saying the DTS keep went to Grubb?

I know your daughter is a keeper. You said you talked to the 03's during the 02 practice.

No, it was a tough decision but my daughter has decided to stay where she was.

Aw c'mon all that matters is that said keeper's proud parents can now boast that dd now plays for a D1 team where she always belonged, cause she was always so much better than those scrubs on her previous team.

When my oldest was a tiny baby in the hospital, I never would have thought we would spend days, weeks or a months worrying over a soccer team choice.   But we continue to do it every year.....   Good luck with your decision.

Me either and it seems to happen every June!

It is my understanding that in LH D1 they keep 2 extra goalies on the bench just in case. They probably don't mention that up front. That being said, I only know 1 keeper in PPL3 capable of playing D1 and she didn't move. However, that being said, FCD PPL1-Pratt is looking for a keeper now--might be her. I know another keeper in PPL1 that is good enough to start D1 and she is awesome. She didn't leave either but her team will probably make LH this year.

Don't knock a keeper because she is in D3. You might be surprised what you find. Good keepers can come from bad teams especially if they are naturally athletic. Honestly, they usually get considerably more action sent their way during game.

Some of the better keepers, I have seen in this age group, have been on lower level teams because they will see more action.  Some of the keepers, in saw in D3 LH, could definitely challenge for a higher spot.  That being said, the speed of play will be much faster in D1 vs PPL 3, so I do think it will still be a challenge, at least fir the first few games.

Parents are funny here in NTX. We some how believe that because our kid is in "D1" she is better than the rest... Well Memo to "D1" parent.. The families in Plano and Arlington are just as excited and into soccer as any of the rest of us... As a Ref, I see my share of soccer and almost every PPL team has 2 or 3 or 4 or 5 players who can easily play in D1.... If I was a LHGCL coach in need of a GK, I would go straight to PPL with my recruiting efforts

This is very true about the quality of some teams that I have reffed even in Arlington. This is especially true on the boys side. I have reffed games that had teams that were all Hispanic that were playing there for whatever reason, that were so good, you could have put them up against anyone.

There is also a Hispanic league that most people don't know about that is very good as well.

What a dumb comment that no ppl player/keeper could compete d1. I have a d1 dd on a top team but don't for a second think there aren't great players that are not in d1. Especially keepers.

don't take offense to the previous comment ppl parents - most of us know better.

This will offend some but my belief that it's true. Very few is any ppl players can compete at D1 level. Perhaps top of D2 can compete - that's it. You say you parents are as into it- well maybe here on the forum, but are you driving your dd to additional practice, lessons, speed and conditioning , etc etc every night of the week , including weekend? Training with THE BEST and being coached by THE BEST, makes d1 players , THE BEST -most athletic players around. Period. There may be a select few that slip through the cracks,but unless their parents are blind they quickly move them to a level that is comparable. Skill , athletism, commitment, mentality is just very different at D1as opposed to ppl- sorry!

D1 coaches snag up players who can hang pretty quickly but for sure by third year of select. Truth hurts - however there is a team for everyone .

The goalie for FCD Blue, I get it, is the talk of this thread, but what about Stark's (entire) D3 team moving up to D1 to take the Texans South spot? Is everyone here going to bash them too? Every team has had changes. Everyone needs to kinda calm down and just see how it all plays out.
