I think it's true. A Gio player came today to try out for Sting. Always sad to hear these things. Whatever the reason, they will strenghten the other teams.

I'm with you! Today, I saw the mother of a Gio player driving around aimlessly. She clearly had no where to go. That has to mean Gio is no more.

Just a thought, here but being the 16th person on a roster doesn't mean the position is garbage. What if the star forward left and another star forward comes in. Yeah, they are the 16th player, but that doesn't make them last in value, right? Very Happy

Now this is weird. On the flamefest topic, soccerskills posted yesterday afternoon. I looked it up based upon what another poster said there and sure shows that soccerskills is Coach Gio himself. See this link: https://www.txsoccer.net/t14555-solar-chelsea-gio-looking-for-a-couple-players#151913 So Coach Gio was posting on the forums yesterday and did not respond to kill this rumor is really weird to me. Starting to feel like the team is really breaking up. Maybe they are staying together and just going to look for a new coach. Why throw away their D1 slot?

Actually it does. This position likely gets 1/3 the playing time that the top players get. After a year or two, this player has fallen so far behind in game experience that she won't catch up. This position is usually signed to give a scholarship to someone or to pad the wallet. Kid doesn't develop on the bench. Needs to find a place to play regularly.

BTW - if you see a post "XYZ looking for 1 - 2 players to complete the roster", ignore. Translation: "I'll take your full dues payment for the privilege of sitting on our bench during games."

Honestly it all depends on the kids when it comes to those 1-2 player situations. People need to do their homework and know who is on the team and be honest about where your DD's skill will rank. Far too often the parents all seem to think they have the next Alex Morgan (forgetting the minor detail that their DD has played forward for years and only scored 1 or 2 goals) and don't put their kids in the right sitation.

If you want to try out for one of those teams, find out what they are looking for and see if your DD can fit. I can promise you, if your DD is better than an existing player the coach is going to play the best player 9 times out of 10.

Yeah. As far as slots 15 or 16 it really matters if a team has too many of one kind of player and not enough of another. You don't want to be a left defender with three kids ahead of yours on the roster already but you join a team where they need a second player in a position and it goes really well.

Rumor has it that the larger clubs like Liverpool/Solar are sending not very nice letters to coaches moving to different clubs and taking players. Threatening with a lawsuit as the coaches signed non comptetes. Anyone else heard this?

Sounds plausible... I would like to be in court the day this trial started. I can see the opening arguments,

Your Honor, I would like to direct the attention of the jury to this chart I/we "made" for your viewing pleasure. As you can see we are such a small club, with only 1000+ teams and we are barely getting by.....

I guess these clubs will have to defer the non-profit status and the new beamers they were eying before all the movement.

Well, kind of and kind of not.......

The 2 good players that yo#10 is talking about left to try out for a international traveling Quidditch team. In their absence, the rest of the parents panicked, leading to a mad exodus. Most of the players ended up on teams playing in Arlington, where they really belonged anyway. A few players joined their local rec leagues and 2 players, that I know of, moved to Brazil in pursuit of higher quality training......

Solar, as a club, panicked not wanting to lose the coveted LHGCL D1 bye. So what they did was grab a rec team called the purple ponies, gave them solar kits, and now this is the team that Chris Pulpaneck will coach. Hopefully Chris is a good coach that can improve them quickly......
