Signing Day Club fees vs Team Fees Empty Signing Day Club fees vs Team Fees

Post by Travis246 29/06/14, 06:35 pm

As we approach July 1st, I have some questions to ask contingent on the fact that a player is paid in full:

Obviously, all select/ECNL players will sign their contracts.  They will agree to either pay the club fees in full or set up payments.  In addition, many teams establish a separate team account with an estimated amount it will cost for tournaments, travel expenses such as food and hotel, coaches travel expenses, etc. In the past, we have paid between $1500-1800 for our DD.

All uniforms are ordered and paid separately.

We all invest a lot of money for our DD's to play club ball.

1.  What budget are many of your teams establishing for you and what does it cover?  Ex.  How many tournaments? How many travel tournaments? etc..

2.  How do clubs manage the fees for DD's who are dual rostered?  Do they pay team account fees for both teams or pay as they go when invited to play?

3.  Do dual roster players help pay the coaches fee for the ECNL team?  Do dual roster players have to pay more since they are on two teams?

4.  If a player who is on an ECNL team (not dual rostered) and has paid in full the team account fee for the ECNL team account but doesn't get rostered nor travels with the team, entitled to a refund?

5.  If a dual rostered player gets rostered in lieu of an ECNL player who is on the team, does that dual roster player have to pay for anything like the hotel for a particular game they are being asked to play in?

6.  If a player leaves a select or ECNL team to play for another team, perhaps due to lack of playing time or differences, is that player entitled to receive a refund (possibly prorated) from the team account?

7.  Can a team legally keep that team account money that is paid in advance to cover cost anticipated for travel, hotel, tournaments, etc?

8.  If your DD helps raise money from a fund raiser to help off set the team account fees, is that DD entitled to that if they leave the team?

9.  At the end of the season (June 30th), if there is money left in the team account, how is that managed?  Can a team legally keep whatever is left or do they have to refund the money, even for DD's who decide to go elsewhere or are cut from the team?

This is all somewhat vague so it will be helpful to get feedback.

99.999% of the times you do NOT get a refund if you leave. The coach "may" give you a release to leave a play with another team.  However, I've never heard of them prorating your account and giving money back.  Within the contracts they rarely mentioned refunds due to playing time or differences.

The word "refund" is non existent in club soccer.

Kind of like asking what the price is on a used car.
The answer to all your questions above is:
. It depends on the specific set of circumstances for each case.
