Interesting info on Birth Certificates from overseas Empty Interesting info on Birth Certificates from overseas

A family friend has adopted a kid from out of country. They didn't get him until he was 6 years old. The kids birth certificate was lost. They were able to choose a birthdate and year for him. She was telling us that she wishes she chose a later year, so he could be more dominating in sports and maturity level and what not... i asked her, were you able to choose any year? And she said yes. They give you 1 opportunity to create a new birthdate for this person.

Long story short... there have been players ages in question over the years... one in particular that i can think of that looks 2-3 years older than most of her teammates and has for the 5-6 years we have been doing this... Needless to say, this was the first thing i thought of.

Has anyone ever heard about the birthdate and oversea's birth certificates? I know I'm speaking of an adopted child here, but i am thinking this applies to all oversea birth certificates...

It's my understanding ALL players with foreign birth certificates must complete International Clearance if playing within NTSSA................I know I can't register competitive, recreational or academy players without that approval.

I have nearly zero resource to verify documents presented .... No way an international clearance verifies anything beyond just saying that what they wrote down and signed was "true and correct".

Over seas isn't the only area of concern over legal birth dates. For instance, in Mexico, you can obtain a certificate of birth (note this is not a birth certificate). A certificate of birth is created based on a parent stating that the birth they have given is true and accurate. I have heard rumors that any number of coaches have made trips to Mexico to obtain "new certificates of birth" for players who may not have been eligible by age. Of course, rumors are always that, but I do know that certificates of birth are issued there.

Is this a real problem in NTX soccer? This sounds like suburban myth.

So my DD can become a Mexican national, and play academy for the next 5 years? Finally some useful information from this forum.

The issue is real, I personally deal with it on a daily basis at work. Is it a rampant problem in NTX... doubtful, at least amongst the girls... now the boys side of things... I would expect you see it much more.

The parent has to at least provide evidence of their Mexican citizenship, although you can buy those at most bus stations or flea markets if you know the right person... haha

Plano Bizarre has them at a great price. For an extra $9.99 we can crop a picture in and get you a one way passport.
