05 LHGCL Qualifying Question
05 LHGCL Qualifying Question
1. Is it possible to qualify this year as a new team higher than D3?
2. Has LHGCL made any official announcement regarding this?
Can't seem to find it
Thanks

Re: 05 LHGCL Qualifying Question
Seems we won't know that until after the end of the spring season in mid-May when all teams make their choices.
Have not seen any official word from LHGCL about plans for filling this age group but it will likely be a one-off system. This is the only one that will NOT have teams from the age below filling spaces vacated by current squads choosing to move up an age group to stay together.

15 looks like a good starting point. A couple of the D1 teams have already posted that they're moving up to 2004...

Re: 05 LHGCL Qualifying Question
I'm interested in what ForReal is tossing out there.
If LH allows the inexperienced teams to leap frog the more experienced teams, that would be another notch in the "wtf is LH doing" belt.
Is that what I understand LH is going to do? Freeze everyone's spot then let the new teams jump them?

Peace11 - I haven't seen LHGCL say what they actually plan to do. Is the scenario in the post shown online somewhere?

Some of the "new" teams are D1 caliber and more talented than your so called
'experienced' 05 teams, which by the way will be a shell of the LH team from a year ago. I'm told LH will let these very talented later year 2005s have an opportunity to play D1, this is their first season of select albeit it will be in the U12 division. They deserve a chance to play LH at the highest level.
Peace11 description above is accurate from what I've gathered

D2 teams can enter QT and try to make D1.
And the 20 team division is a joke. Always has been.

Nothing official yet.....LH board had meeting with DOCs and coaches to get feedback on this topic. A source informed me this is how LH was thinking about handling byes. Again, nothing official so things could have changed, stayed the same. We should find out soon.
I personally believe letting them play in QT to see which teams are deserving to play D1 is the right thing to do. With all the changes, teams more than likely will not look the same from previous year.

Re: 05 LHGCL Qualifying Question
Are the new QT teams more deserving than those who just finished or are finishing a full year in LH?
Honestly. If LH favors those in QT over those already in the league, then I'm embarrassed for them. Embarrassed.
The best idea yet is one more year of super group.

I don't think new QT teams are more deserving than current U11 teams just like I don't think current U11 teams are more deserving than new QT teams. If a current U11 top 10 team wants to keep their D1 bye (assuming U12 will be 10 teams in D1) than they have earned that bye. A team that finished 11-18 earned a D2 bye. Now those teams are losing their older kids (Aug - Dec 04s) and you think they deserve to move up to D1 (assuming U12 is 10 teams) because they have experience in Lake Highlands not because of level of play? If they are deserving they will show it on the field and earn a D1 bye in QT. We can agree to disagree. This is just my opinion.

Re: 05 LHGCL Qualifying Question
Terrible logic.
You could have 10 new D1 teams bc of QT and you're willing to risk the league's competitive level to what amounts to 06s playing in an 05 league (categorically speaking, not literally).
Poor logic.
Hey teams who hair played the rigors of LH, you sit tight while we let the new kids pass you you up. Oh and if you're not happy, you can go to QT. but don't mess up because you could suffer.
Can't buy in.
Good luck.

Consider yourself fortunate that you even have the opportunity to compete. Way too often, that's not the case.

Re: 05 LHGCL Qualifying Question
But if they are placed in a 10-team D1 and don't prove worthy (particularly if we are discussing 6-8 vacancies), then there may be a competitive imbalance for years to come in this age group. By the way look at the current u11 table. Numbers 1 and 4 didn't qualify the first weekend. A season's worth of play has established their deserved ranking.
