Congrats to that team and Chris Pulpaneck and wish them luck in the upcoming games. My daughter and I have gone out to watch this team and coach in other tournaments and they are fun to watch.

Great win for LP Elite '00 who is one of if not the best team in the '00 age group and have been for many years.
If their win proves to you that "the right coach and the right team is the right choice, not the league", then does a loss to an ECNL team prove that the reverse is true (i.e LP has the wrong coach and is the wrong team and thus playing there is the wrong choice and one should choose a different league)? Additionally what does a tie/loss within their own age group of non-ECNL team prove to you?
Their win doesn't diminish ECNL anymore than their tie/losses within their age group diminish that they are an elite '00 team. Congratulate them and praise their accomplishments for a big win...just don't go overboard :-)

Would be more interesting to me to see if any 00's on the ECNL bubble hear the pied Pulper.

Of if any of the current '00 Pulpettes get drawn to the sparkly ECNL emblems of other teams... Didn't this happen to his '98 team to some degree?
It will be interesting to see where this team stands a year from now.

He forgot to exclude the 5 players committed to ECNL teams for next season. That may be why you are confused.

I know I shouldn't be, but I admit I'm always a little surprised how everything turns into "us vs. the evil ECNL empire." A non ECNL team beating an ECNL team means only that. They won the game. No more, no less.
How that win is extrapolated into "that coach and that team is somehow now superior to the ECNL" is beyond me. I guess if your dd's sole goal in life was to beat an ECNL team, then perhaps: mission accomplished.
Sounds like it was a great match, and the girls should be congratulated for their performance and a big win. Anything more, not so much.

Re: 00 ECNL Teams Process
Watch the LH QT games and hear the parents who didn't make the cut. Whoa nelly. Go to a tournament where you have teams from PPL, Arlington, and LH and Katy bar the door.
Maybe it is just human nature that we have to find our Goliath in whatever form we can so if we defeat them, we can beat our chests and rattle our sabers and say "Look we have defeated the giant." It makes us feel better about where we are.
But I agree, one day and one moment in time does not crown an LH team the best, nor does a loss make a 99 ECNL team the worst.
Some teams have great soccer coaches who teach and mold their team into really good players while others have great maintenance coaches who recruit well trained players.
This game we love to cuss and discuss is always a mixture of good players, good health, good weather, and a heavy dose of luck.
On any given Sunday, any team, in any league can rise to the occasion and commit greatness. And on any given Sunday, any great team can fall in defeat.
(Wow, that was heavy stuff!)

Re: 00 ECNL Teams Process
So can anyone go to these club ECNL tryouts or just kids that are already part of the club?UEFA wrote:UEFA wrote:futbollove wrote:UEFA wrote:
I would think that a ECNL coach would have a pretty good idea of the talent at each position within the division. Scouting and identification of talent within the age group has been going on for a while! If your DD can play you will be contacted.
You would be wrong. There will be DII, DIII, and yes, even Plano league players that are capable of beating out "top" team players potentially showing up to these tryouts that some coaches have never laid eyes on. If you want to be considered for one of these teams, show up to as many tryouts as possible. If you want to remain with your current team, sit at home and wait to be contacted. (Unless of course your DD is one of the top 1% of the age group. Then yes, someone will be contacting you)
I know for a fact that Coaches as we speak are scouting DII and DIII players . I was amazed seeing the list of players that had been identified from the other divisions.
Definitely go to try outs, but the recruiting and identification of talent has begun! This process is starting early even before try outs.
