Any idea what happens if Fever does fold? Feet move up and another spot opens in D2? I don't think Fever has another 03 team. Any former Fever parents care to elaborate since so many of you have left?

Fever apparently folded last night.
They do have another 03 team, Smith, but as you saw every time he posts a msg, he claims it disappears.
They are a Plano level team. Didn't have enough kids to make this past fall, but could roll the remnants from Phiri into it and they might have enough to make.
It would be Keagan all over again, but they could hold that spot if they wanted...

Anybody know why Fever folded? They were doing well and in D1. Coaching? Style of play? Parent sidelines? Seems a shame that a good team had to go down.

Not sure how Cosmos has kept it together to date. The man-child tactics would have driven me nuts after the first practice/game. If I had a vote, I would have kept SP and voted TW off the island.

Fever lost their stud keeper and the whole red card bare knuckle smackdown against the Keegan kid was pretty ugly (I was at RR that day and the ref was still shaking his head well after the game) though there were probably cracks before that.

Heard the same. They also picked up a couple of Cosmos studs as well. Not sure which of the three Solar teams said players will play on. Should create a trickle down effect. Which Solar dds end up on other teams.

Brings to mind the old question whould you rather win all the time and sit the bench or start/play more on a team in spots 5-10 where development can continue?

Develop. Love the game. Play. But not at the expense of lessor coaching. It is a difficult balance. However, if you care a little less about W&L and a lot about getting better at least you can control more of the decision.

At 12, it should be more about coaching and opportunity to develop. Sitting the bench and never playing...no thanks.

Agreed - but even some of the top teams have lessor coaching. And some really good coaches are with teams that don't have the standout w/l records.The point is to play AND learn.

And have fun. If you don't love it at least a majority of the time then what a beating the for the kiddo.

Sure TW is passionate for the game, but he has generated a lot of highly sought after players - especially after this past season. I know you expected the Cosmos to be a doormat with all of your predictions this past season and that simply didn't happen.

He kept it together last season because he gets developmental results. He'll do it again this upcoming season not because he flirts with lonely soccer moms as HoldingMid cheap-shotted, but because he knows what skills to teach and how to push his players.

Parents that take a minute to look past ridiculous comments like HoldingMid makes will see TW has some solid methods.

I don't know that people ever doubted he could field a solid team. I believe it's the sustaining a solid team given his on the field and off the field antics that people are questioning. He has or had some very talented girls. Why are so many leaving? Is it related to how the girls feel like they are treated?

I think it's positioning themselves for ECNL teams. He also encouraged them to leave for greener pastures.

I think the word Spider-Man was intending to use was supported their moving to greener pastures.
I am confident that was the case for those who were positioning and READY for ECNL. There were some who left, maybe thinking they were ready for ECNL, possibly over personality issues or just looking for something new. I don't think he was surprised and suspect he has filled those spots already.
