Congrats to DFeet for making it to the quarterfinals by finishing 2nd in bracket play. Elite is going to need some help to advance, but it is a possibility to have both NTX teams in the final 8.

Sorry to see such a disappointing showing by the two Texas teams. Liverpool can't make it out of the bracket and D'feeters get the wildcard out of bracket but loses thereafter.  Neither Texas team was able to beat any California team and merely shows the dominance of SoCal soccer.  Heard that the Blues 4-0 destruction of D'Feeters was not nearly as close as the 4-0 score would suggest.

Sad that parents without kids in the tournament feel happy that a group of girls didn't win. Personally I say congrats to both teams. Tough to go to "their turf" and play, never seems to be the other way around. Maybe they can't take the heat. Stinks to lose any game in PK's.

Speed of play is amazing from most of the California teams. That was the biggest difference I noticed.

Sucks to travel that far away and come up short but it happens. My guess is that Elite would win the tournament more times than not but it just wasn't in the cards. Sometimes even the best teams lay an egg or two.

Now I'm sure the level headed Elite parents are taking this in stride, sleep with one eye open AF Smile

11 months since Elites last defeat...that's a great run. I believe they hit their stride a little too late in this tourney. Slick move by those two Cali teams to tie because they may have had to face an all cylinder Elite in later rounds but....who knows?!
But I agree with GrndTx...AF, last loss/tie combo resulted in a new coach. Loss to Feeters in PLD and tied DTS in LHGCL then out with Weddall in with Flynn...tough bunch.

Yeah, but new coach this time would probably result in new club as well. Not sure all parents would be ready to pull that trigger yet..

I realize that some of these comments are said tongue in cheek, but surely there is some history to go off of with these parents. They surely aren't happy right now and they will hold someone accountable, just not the players themselves. You surely won't hear any congratulatory words for the teams that managed to draw and beat them either.

Call it foreshadowing, crystal ball, telepathy...what ever you want, but the chink in the Elite armor was exposed against Arsenal at SuperCopa. It was astounding to listen to parents that were screaming at the coach to get certain players off the field. I have never seen anything like that amongst parents of kids on the same team. I am uncomfortable casting a net over the entire group but there are clearly 6-8 groups of parents that are steering that ship.

These girls have been so good, they are entitled to have an off game or tournament for that matter. Let's just hope the parents see it the same way. I am sure many of them do but am also sure that many of them want change, now.

Congratulations to Liverpool for being at the top of your game for so long and also congrats to D'Feeters for making it out of a very tough group.

I wouldn't worry too much about Elite if I were you. I saw 2 of their 3. Total domination. I'm sure the SoCal cronies would disagree but whatever. They'd be wrong. Didn't see the loss tho. Saw Arsenal play twice. Not sure how they beat anybody in the tournament. Much less LP. Different team from Supercopa. Elite tie vs Carlsbad was unfortunate. They had several opportunities. Just couldn't finish.

All teams were very solid. SoCalteams were very fast and efficient. Not really faster than us, but definitely more efficient. We controlled most of our 1st two games. Again, I'm sure the SoCal diehards would disagree as far as the Legends game was concerned. We were just bigger, faster, and stronger. TooHat was very well coached. Team looked like a well oiled machine. No matter the pressure. Only problem, they were about the size of our 07G team. Obviously, that was just a matter of time before they were spent. Very solid fundamentals tho.

SoCal Blues started out desperate. Long ball after long ball. We matched up pretty well. They got a cheap goal of a corner. Then flopped in the box and got a PK. At that point we pretty much conceded since we were already in the QF. Very good team tho. As good or better than Eite IMO. Love to see that game tho.

We could've easily won our QF game. Strikers were well coached, skilled, and had some solid players but we completely dominated them. Missed 2 wide open goals. One hit under the crossbar no doubt in my mind if Strikers had shot it, it would've counted. Saw on SoCal forum someone thought it was pretty even. Whatever. We lost in PKs. Tough to swallow but it happens.

Fun environment. Nothing like it in NTX for sure. Not even close. Very team was at least a top 10 team here. No doubt in my mind. We're proud of our results. I would hope that Elite is well. No one can win them all. Especially when you're going to get the competitions best game every single time.

For the younger who was asking, hope this helps.

Just enjoy the ride!!! Unbelievable how a group of parents can turn a beautiful opportunity to share a child's "GAME" with great teams into a negative experience. 04 Parents your new at this so you do get a little slack, don't believe the hype of Gotsoccer rankings, don't get caught up in your kids team being the best in the nation.....its HOT GARBAGGGGG'E. Teams from all over the nation are extremely competitive, Surf cup is a great example, Vegas Cup, also Tourneys in Ohio, Chicago, New Jersey and Florida where our top teams have traveled for years and got their buts whipped and have opened a few cans of their own on better teams. Next big travel tourney lower your expectations, enjoy the city and out of state travel, enjoy the time with the kids, let the kids enjoy the experience. Be greatful you have a child competing at the highest level even if you pay $3K for a weekend in Cali and lose to a great team 0-1, be proud of the kids and remember it was your choice to go! If you travel to these top tourneys expecting to win.....TRUST ME, DISAPPOINTMENT will be served along with most of the on-flight free beverages.

It was a great tournament. I watched Liverpool play all three games. Their first game was played well. They didn't score and that happens sometimes in soccer. Their second was bad. Third game they played awesome. Looked like a top team. The goal they gave up at the end cost them a chance to advance. The other team from Texas was good too. I was hoping my dd could play against Liverpool but that didn't happen this time.

That's not true. My daughter plays for one of the California ECNL clubs and they just announced the fall roster at the beginning of July. The team took a break staring mid June and didn't start practicing until two weeks before Surf. The fall league season starts in September.

My DD was fortunate enough to play in the SuperCopa and guest at Surf Cup. The differences I saw between NTX-Socal soccer was the NTX squads were physical and country strong. They were aggressive to the ball, but not as creative and predictable at times with the ball. The pace was about equal, but SoCal teams were more technically sound and creative. My two cents. Both tournaments were great, but the level of competition this year at Surf was impressive.
